Why is this important?
In the light of the recently published Chilcot report on the lead up to and subsequent execution of the Iraq war, it has become clear the incident relating to the death of Dr David Kelly is fundamental to the events leading up to the decision to invade. Dr David Kelly had grave concerns with the evidence used in justification of the war. Jack Straw the foreign secretary at the time belittled both him and his concerns about “sexing up” the government dossier promoting the war. Dr Kellys subsequent suicide left many questions unanswered and conclusions drawn after the Hutton enquiry are less than satisfactory.
I believe the events leading up to and following the death of Dr Kelly should be reinvestigated and all files relating to this should be made public.
