STOP THE SELL-OFF OF OLD TIDEMILL COMMUNITY SPACE

STOP THE SELL-OFF OF OLD TIDEMILL COMMUNITY SPACE

We want the appointed developers to go back to the drawing board and change their plans in line with what the community really needs, which is access to quality public open space and affordable housing that reflects real living wages. To do this we must convince the council planning department to reconsider the developers proposals and instead, take on board the communities views.

Why is this important?

Family Mosaic and Sherry Green Homes want to demolish social housing, replace the creative hub of Old Tidemill School and build over the entire Wildlife Garden, a unique and mature haven, for people and wildlife alike in Deptford. Replacing it with 210 dwellings, 176 of which are for private rental with a small communal grass lawn and sanitized play spaces. This development will not benefit the local community and will remove a vital green space in an area of local deficiency.

URGENT. PLEASE OBJECT TO THE COUNCIL PLANNING DEPARTMENT ABOUT THE CURRENT PROPOSALS

It’s really straightforward. All the info is here:

Deptford, London

Reasons for signing

  • Lewisham Council is killing this part of the borough with gross levels of overbuilding, the vast majority of which is out of the financial reach of locals and brings nothing of value to the area.
  • It's like a shared backyard. The community work together to keep it maintained, meet, work, play, get healthy, and enjoy it together. I'd argue we need more of these not less! Especially for our children.
  • Increasing population pressure means that we need more green space, not less. The proposed development should and could be built around this valuable public amenity.
