Save Tonmawr Primary School, Say NO to Closure!

We want Our children to continue being educated in this wonderful school. To close this school will have massive repercussions not only for our childrens education but also for our community.
The children have a right to be educated in their own community and we want our authority to listen... we stand against their proposal and say "No to School Closures".

Why is this important?

Tonmawr Primary is an Outstanding school, with the recent Estyn Report supporting this. We also have a specialised unit for children who have learning difficulties.
The local authority Neath Port Talbot Council are proposing to close our school, along with 4 other schools within the Authority, at the end of this Academic year.
NPTC want our children to attend an already over-crowded school, where the classroom staff to child ratio is already exceeding the Welsh Assemblies recommendations. It is not yet known exactly where NPTC are planning to uproot and then place the children that use the special unit.
We want to make a stand, and we want our children to be educated in their own community school, where they are very happy and very well educated, in a school that prides itself on their very many achievements. Please help us keep our treasure of a school open.

A very Successful Demonstration by Tonmawr Action Group. A number of us drove from Tonmawr To Crynallt at 'School Run' time in the morning, to highlight the very many potential hazards on this deadly road that already has a very high volume of traffic during school times. If NPTCB close Tonmawr School, then hundreds of school children (that attend crynallt and cefn season,) will be put at increased risk when on their way to school every day. This fact was clear to see on the day of our protest. We also had the support of local councillors and also Captain Beany . Article from the Evening Post ......

Documented Evidence supporting Tonmawr Primary School as one of the top schools in the whole of the Borough. Shame on our local Authority, for the threat of closure of such a high peforming school. Take a look at the figures in this 'Wales Online' Article.....

Here is a video clip of a typical morning travelling from Tonmawr to just past Cefn Saeson school at morning school time! NPTCBC will be adding to this traffic chaos, if they succeed in closing Tonmawr School as all the current pupils will be transported to Crynallt, putting Children from Tonmawr and Cimla in an already very hazardous route to school. There has already recently been two fatalities on this road within very close proximity to the School. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExZV5OBVyys
