Stop Network Rail Felling Millions of Trees
Network Rail must cease their "slash and burn" mass tree felling and begin a consultation with the public before continuing.
Why is this important?
Network Rail are, without any public consultation, felling trees growing within 60 metres of the track in huge numbers - up to 10 million trees could be at risk of being cut down.
The trees are being cut down to prevent potential railway blocking due to fallen tree limbs and leaves. But Network Rail are refusing to make the plans public, and have not consulted over the plans which could see tens of thousands of healthy, mature trees cut down.
This destroys habitats for wildlife, and is being done during the nesting season of many bird species, which has been heavily criticised by RSPB.
