Stop Police and Crime Commissioners governing the Fire Service
Halt the current act that puts the Fire and Rescue Services of England under the jurisdiction of the PCC.
Why is this important?
The Fire and Rescue Services are there to provide humanitarian services, without any judgement on any citizen in the UK.
Grouping that service with an enforcement authority will damage the good reputation the fire service has with the public at a time when they need to decern between the two.
The obvious choice would be to create stronger ties between the Ambulance service and the fire service but for some reason this is not even a consideration.
It would surely be better for fire crews and paramedics/technicians to be sharing working skills than that of fire fighters and police officers.
