  • Don't scrap the pensions dashboard
Pensions dashboard The government committed to getting the pensions dashboard off the ground. It means we’ll be able to keep track of all our pensions in one place, stopping us losing out on thousands of pounds. When news came out that the government was considering scrapping the dashboard, over 200,000 of us jumped into action. We signed open letters, emailed our MPs and our research, which proved how much people could lose without a pensions dashboard, was plastered all over the press. The government saw our messages in their inboxes and in the media - and yesterday they acted.

  • Let Trump Baby Fly
06/07/18 We won! The Mayor's office conceded that there are no rules prohibiting inflatables in Parliament Square Gardens, and that an inflatable effigy of a political figure does in fact constitute legitimate protest!

  • Ban combustible building materials now
01/10/18 - We won! Housing Minister James Brokenshire has just announced a ban on dangerous combustible building materials, like the cladding that was used on Grenfell tower. The government has chosen to put people before profit and you were a part of making that happen, so thank you. So many lives were turned upside down after the Grenfell tragedy. Since then, we’ve been campaigning hard as ‘Grenfell United’ for justice and change, to make sure no families have to go through what we did. Your signature on our petition helped us pile the pressure on the government before the announcement when it really mattered. Here’s what Ahmed Elgwahry, who lost his mother and sister in the fire, had to say: “It is heartbreakingly too late for our families but we’re one step closer to making sure other families across the country can go to bed at night safe in their homes.”

  • Keep GP out of hours services in St. Andrews
Thanks to your support the St. Andrews GP out of hours service has been saved. Last Friday the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership Board agreed to the remodelled service for North East Fife. It will mean that no-one, except a small number of people, will have to travel to Kirkcaldy to receive help with a primary care emergency. There is still work to be done to ensure smooth implementation which will probably take until Christmas but it is believed that the new flexible arrangement can last. It will involve slightly reducing the opening hours in the evening, using other health professionals, bringing together the minor injuries with the minor illness service and using the GP in the centre at night to do home visits too. The campaign was won thanks to you and the thousands of others who signed my petition, sent in a postcard, attended the packed public meetings and so much more. Also thank you to the coordinating group of community councils, the university, students, GPs and others who worked together to find a practical solution. I will continue to keep you informed of progress. You can find more regular updates at www.facebook.com/WillieRennieFife Willie Rennie Member of the Scottish Parliament North East Fife

  • Marvin Rees: deliver your promise to ban glyphosate in Bristol
WE DID IT! Thanks to your support, Bristol City Council has agreed to our proposal for a Task Force to lead on the phase-out of glyphosate in our city. During the council debate, which was triggered by your petition signatures, Councillors voted unanimously in favour of a motion to stop using the controversial chemical in Bristol’s public spaces. The new Task Force will see the Council working with land managers across the city to plan a phase-out of glyphosate, and the transition to safer methods of weed control. We’ll be supporting the Council in this work, as well as keeping a close eye on the small print – so watch this space! Read the text of speeches, statements and the motion on our website: http://www.pesticidesafebristol.org/news/ Watch the video here: youtube.com/watch?v=k2BlzQdYyfc. (Watch from 30m for Bee The Change Project statement on how glyphosate impacts pollinators, and from 1hr11m for main petition debate) Spread the good news by sharing our Facebook posts: www.facebook.com/PesticideSafeBristolAlliance With thanks for your support, The Pesticide Safe Bristol Alliance team
