Help us stop the government from splitting our family upUPDATE: We won! 15/07/17 Yesterday, Carlos and I went before a court judge to determine if we could stay here together in the UK. It was a strange morning as we prepared to fight for our right to be a family here! But it is with a huge smile that I can report that the judge overturned the Home Office's refusal to allow us to be a family and within less than 30 minutes not only had we finished his session but he asked Carlos to return to his seat and told him there and then that he would grant him Right to Remain!!!!!! Sanity, compassion and humanity prevailed yesterday :)1,408 SignaturesCreated by Caroline Coombs

Stop cuts to Citizens Advice in Suffolk19/02/19 We were delighted and surprised by an announcement yesterday by Suffolk County Council about our funding for 2019/2020. The Council will still reduce its funding to Citizens Advice by half in 2019/2020, but two Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will make up the shortfall [1]. CCGs are the NHS bodies responsible for commissioning health care services in their local area. This is a great result and on behalf of our clients we want to thank you for signing our petition and for lobbying local councillors. Citizens Advice is often the only place to which someone in need can turn for help. That help is vital to those that need it. Your support for our campaign to keep the service going made all the difference. Still, this funding is only for one year. The people who signed our petition asked the County Council to commit to ongoing funding for the Citizens Advice service in Suffolk. Your backing has made such a difference to us, and we will let you know about any new developments. Citizens Advice charities in Suffolk6,577 SignaturesCreated by Citizens Advice in Suffolk

Back Seni’s LawUPDATE 06/07/18 - We won! MPs approve 'Seni's law' to restrict use of force against mental health patients! MPs have voted in favour of a new law to restrict the use of force against patients in mental health units, despite fears the bill might be blocked. The changes would force NHS trusts to increase transparency about the restraint of patients, including making police officers wear body cameras when dealing with vulnerable people The Commons burst into applause when the private member's bill, introduced by Labour's Steve Reed, passed its third reading. The reforms are known as "Seni's law" in memory of Olaseni Lewis, who died in September 2010 after being restrained by 11 police officers at Bethlem Royal Hospital in south-east London. Protect rural Hampshire: Stop the Barton Stacey IncineratorMany of you will have seen the fantastic news that plans to build an incinerator at Barton Stacey have been scrapped. The MPs, campaign leaders, councillors, residents and others who have contested the plans, or have agitated and informed all deserve huge credit. As North West Hampshire MP Kit Malthouse - who campaigned against the plant alongside Caroline Nokes MP - said, “This is great news and a tribute to the community’s campaign against this project”. Thank you, too, for signing this petition that played a small part in illustrating our collective opposition.2,963 SignaturesCreated by Gavin Lockhart-Mirams
