In support of Diversity's BGT performanceThe closing of the petition was preempted by the decision of OfCom to not humour the complainants by punishing or admonishing ITV for the broadcasting of the performance by Diversity. The petition was submitted to OfCom, nonetheless, and I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who signed I have no doubt that the existence of of these various petitions will have influenced OfCom to come to the right decision19,075 SignaturesCreated by Stax Volt

As a result of your support, I am pleased to report that, at least for now, the Council has decided not to proceed with the changes in the zone(s) specified. No fun for Nature - Save Swanscombe MarshesBuglife is delighted to confirm that the London Resort project has officially been terminated. This decision follows a High Court ruling to liquidate London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) due to financial and contractual disputes, bringing an end to a decade of uncertainty and environmental concern. The High Court’s ruling not only signals the definitive end of the London Resort plan but also lifts the shadow of doubt that has loomed over local businesses and the community for years. It ensures that this critical natural space remains safeguarded for future generations. Furthermore, the Planning Inspectorate has held LRCH accountable for its "unreasonable behaviour" throughout the planning process, awarding legal costs to a number of organisations, including Buglife, National Highways, Kent Wildlife Trust and others. This recognition of wasted resources underscores the importance of due diligence and respect for environmental regulations in major development proposals.39,007 SignaturesCreated by Paul Hetherington

No new opencast coal mines in Durham, UK.01/07/20 Plans to extend an open cast mine by its owners have been rejected by councillors. The Banks Group wanted to enlarge its Bradley West mine in County Durham to extract an extra 90,000 tonnes of coal. More than 6,000 letters of objection were sent with opponents branding the plan "environmentally unacceptable". Durham County Council's planning officers had recommended the plan be approved but councillors rejected it at a meeting, held via videolink. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-5325502190,317 SignaturesCreated by Coal Action Network

Open Brighton's Homeless Shelters 365 days a year01/02/18 - We Won! On February the 1st, I presented full council with the 5,623 signatures of the ‘Open Brighton's Homeless Shelters 365 days a year’ petition and made an appeal to the room. After some debate, there was then a vote on expanding the provision of services to those already homeless. In a stunning repeat of last year’s unanimous vote, the council have now agreed - without abstentions - to send an extra £25,000 for night shelters, bringing the total to £160,000. This is an amazing result, and you played a key part in it. I’m so proud of what we achieved, as you should be.5,736 SignaturesCreated by John Hadman

Back Seni’s LawUPDATE 06/07/18 - We won! MPs approve 'Seni's law' to restrict use of force against mental health patients! MPs have voted in favour of a new law to restrict the use of force against patients in mental health units, despite fears the bill might be blocked. The changes would force NHS trusts to increase transparency about the restraint of patients, including making police officers wear body cameras when dealing with vulnerable people The Commons burst into applause when the private member's bill, introduced by Labour's Steve Reed, passed its third reading. The reforms are known as "Seni's law" in memory of Olaseni Lewis, who died in September 2010 after being restrained by 11 police officers at Bethlem Royal Hospital in south-east London.
