  • No to New Parking Restrictions for Residents/local Businesses by Tower Hamlets Council
30/01/18 - We Won! As a result of your support, I am pleased to report that, at least for now, the Council has decided not to proceed with the changes in the zone(s) specified. This result shows petitions work - not always - but it can make a difference. Together we can aspire for and achieve positive change and a fair society. I will keep an eye on any further development and keep you posted.

  • Public Ownership of Scotland’s Railway
On 17 March 2021, Transport Secretary Michael Matheson finally announced that the ScotRail franchise will be brought back into public ownership from 1 April 2022, when Abellio's contract ends. Thanks to everyone who signed our petition, first launched the day after the Independence Referendum in September 2014. It has been a long fight, but we did it!!

  • Stop making our NHS doctors into border guards.
After thousands of us signed the petition, emailed, tweeted and called Jeremy Hunt and chipped in for hard hitting ad vans, the government announced it was scrapping the dangerous data sharing deal between the NHS and the Home Office! https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/may/09/government-to-stop-forcing-nhs-to-share-patients-data-with-home-office?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

  • Protect small cider producers
Thanks to your support we were able to hand in a petition with over 26,000 signatures urging the Government to back small cider producers. On 8th July 2015, the Government responded in its Budget. The Chancellor has announced that the Government will retain the current duty exemption for small cider producers. This is excellent news for real cider drinkers and small producers alike. CAMRA is delighted with the Government’s commitment and will now be working hard to ensure that they can keep the promise with a legal exemption in the EU Directive. Thank you for making this a campaign win!

  • Protect Cancer Care in Cornwall
28/03/18 We are delighted and relieved to hear that the decision has been taken not to take certain cancer and combined chemo/radiotherapy treatments out of Cornwall*. Many people have been campaigning for this to happen and we are so glad that being able to mount a petition via 38 Degrees helped to boost their numbers considerably. It is so important to exert our right to a say in matters of such great importance to us all, and taking part in petitioning, consultations and - where necessary - demonstrations is a vital part of our democracy. People power matters and it works! Thank you to the 38 Degrees team for helping us to play our part in this way All good wishes Michelle *NHS England met with Cornish MPs at Westminster yesterday (March 27). While it is still reviewing the feedback, MPs say that it has “assured MPs that the proposals will not see services being moved out of Cornwall”. https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/cancer-services-not-moved-out-1394183

  • In support of Diversity's BGT performance
The closing of the petition was preempted by the decision of OfCom to not humour the complainants by punishing or admonishing ITV for the broadcasting of the performance by Diversity. The petition was submitted to OfCom, nonetheless, and I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who signed I have no doubt that the existence of of these various petitions will have influenced OfCom to come to the right decision

  • Goodwin Sands SOS - Stop the Dredge!
Great news! 03/11/22 The news we have all been waiting for has at last arrived! The Port of Dover recently announced that it has abandoned its plans to dredge the Goodwin Sands for landfill for their port development. As you can imagine, after six and a half years of campaigning this news is extremely welcome as it clearly shows that development does not need to come at the expense of the environment. We would like to thank you all for your encouragement, donations and support, without which we would not have achieved this positive outcome. This campaign has definitely been a huge joint effort. We would like to recognise the support provided by our MP Natalie Elphicke who understood both the need for the port development and our concerns for the marine environment. We have no doubt that she was instrumental in encouraging the Port of Dover to source the necessary landfill elsewhere. Despite this result being a vindication of all we have fought for, we know this is just a battle won, not the whole war and we will not be resting on our laurels. We are acutely aware that assurances need to be sought from all the major stakeholders including The Crown Estate, the Environment Agency and the Marine Management Organisation that they will never allow the Goodwins to be exploited ever again. Thank you again for staying with us over the past six years and we look forward to keeping you updated on our continued work to Save Our Sands. Best wishes, Joanna and Fiona

  • Don't make thousands of vulnerable people homeless!
UPDATE: 16.9.16 We'd like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for signing the petition calling on our government to scrap their planned caps to Local Housing Allowance - plans that would push thousand of vulnerable people out of their homes and put them at drastically increased risk of homelessness. We have some good news! Earlier today Damian Green, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, announced that housing benefit caps for supported housing will be deferred until 2019/20.
