Support social housing in Ulverston

The councils that have control over planning in Ulverton should support the development of social housing, in particular the proposed redevelopment of Ulverston Town Hall into affordable letting properties.

Why is this important?

This is important because even in the 21st century some seem to see affordable housing as a privilege rather than a right.

Their have been attempts by a minority of local residents to paint potential tenants as, and I quote "young, single unemployed drug users" which is not only an awful statement to make but grossly untrue.

The aim of this petition is to show that the vocal minority are just that - a minority. Affordable housing should be a right, everyone no matter the status should have a roof over their heads and this development address a very critical need in Ulverston - their simply isn't enough social housing.

Reasons for signing

  • I live in Ulverston and there is a chronic shortage of affordable housing. Conversely, there is a strong "Nimby" attitude amongst the wealthier residents to try to keep it that way... branding all the needy families as being "young, single, drug-taking party-goers". Shame on them and their self-righteous hypocrisy.
  • these are human beings were talking about everyone needs somewhere to live some are not as lucky as others .
  • I have signed because it is disgusting the plight of social housing across the country.
