When candidates make election promises they should do so under oath with real consequences
Whenever a candidate makes a pledge or promise they should do so under oath with real consequences for their actions or inaction's.
Why is this important?
All too often we hear candidates making promises or pledges to the population that they have little to no intention of keeping. For example we fund the EU £350 million a week, lets fund the NHS instead promotion from leave campaign, which was abandoned within minutes of the referendum; or the I want to abolish student loans pledges from a few years ago. There are many more examples that can be plucked from history.
The people making these claims do so to get themselves into a position of power then abandon them as quick as they can.
If a candidate pledges / promises they will do something then they should be held accountable in a court of law for their action or inaction. If a coalition government is formed it would need to negotiate and agree a new hybrid strategy to enable the country to move forward.
For too long we the people have been lied to and its time to take the power back.
