WSCC cabinet member challenged to risk DEADLY A259 junctions in rush hour

We are concerned that some junctions on the A259 between Bognor Regis and Littlehampton are UNSAFE and that West Sussex County Council (WSCC) is NOT DOING ENOUGH to resolve the problem.

We therefore call on the WSCC Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, John O’Brien (member for East Grinstead), to USE THESE DEADLY JUNCTIONS HIMSELF - between 8.15 a.m. and 8.45 a.m. and also between 5.15 p.m. and 5.45 p.m. (i.e. rush hour) EACH DAY FOR TWO WEEKS by:

1. Travelling from Yapton using the B2132 Bilsham Road and turning west towards Bognor Regis (the Comet Corner junction).

2. Travelling from Middleton using the B2132 Yapton Road and turning east towards Littlehampton (the Comet Corner junction).

3. Travelling from Yapton using the B2233 Yapton Road and turning west towards Bognor Regis (the Oystercatcher junction).

Once the Cabinet Member has USED THESE JUNCTIONS FOR TWO WEEKS, we call on him to MAKE A STATEMENT, giving his own honest assessment of road safety at these junctions and, if he shares our concerns, TO EXPLAIN WHAT ACTION HE WILL TAKE TO ADDRESS ROAD SAFETY ISSUES AT THESE JUNCTIONS - AND WITH A TIMESCALE.

Why is this important?

We want URGENT ACTION before any more LIVES ARE LOST!

Dear friends,

Thank you all for signing this petition. It is often the case that once a councillor has personal experience of a problem they are likely to become more active in seeking a resolution. It is therefore vital that we get the cabinet member to "experience" these treacherous junctions in person.

We now have almost 200 signatures - but it is not enough!

Can I please ask you all to share the petition details with your friends on Facebook, Twitter etc. and to e-mail the link to those who are not on Facebook, and most important of all - ask them to share the details with their friends also.

Thank you.
