A law that means that parental rights are reduced if there is a proven background of abuse.

Introduce a law so that families that have split don't have to talk to the perpetrator if they have a background of domestic abuse and/or violence.

Why is this important?

It means that the perpetrator does not have as much control over the family, as even though they may have got a divorce, it's still a way to hold power over them.

Reasons for signing

  • Because my father emotionally and psychologically abused me long after he divorced my Mum. He still sends me manipulative emails even now telling me what I'm meant to do and I'm 30! I wanted to get a restraining order but he said he would stop the maintainance payments if I did so I couldn't report him (we really needed the money). I suffer with PTSD from the trauma he caused me both before and long after the divorce.
  • To end the cycle of abuse we need to end contact between perpetrators and children as abuse is taught and the perpetrators will continue abuse via children
  • This is SO needed! Divorce does not equal end of abuse/control!!
