Declare Neath Port Talbot a Frack Free Zone

Declare Neath Port Talbot a Frack Free Zone

Declare Neath Port Talbot a Frack Free Local Authority.

Why is this important?

Neath Port Talbot has for centuries been an industrial area but now in the 21st century, the surrounding countryside is starting to return to its former glory with much of the area now supporting a thriving tourist industry. The people of Neath Port Talbot would like to keep it this way and do not want any form of shale gas or oil extraction by any method whatsoever, namely by Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking), Coal Bed Methane or Underground Coal Gasification.

How it will be delivered

Reasons for signing

  • In the hope it will lead to a fracking ban across the border.
  • The countryside is quite beautiful around here now. Fracking and the associated heavy traffic would completely destroy it.
  • History of the Swansea and Neath valleys and other valleys in Wales - Industrialists moved in raped and ruined the land, took its resources, moved out and left a disaster to clean up. NEVER AGAIN! Shame is they still own the land rights and then charge local authorities who want to regenerate the ruined areas for access rights to do certain things. This could happen again.
