No Pub In Our Park

Drop the proposal that would allow Greene King and the "Hungry Horse" chain to build a Public House in a residential area within John H Burrows Sports Ground, next to the adjacent children's playground.

This is NOT a suitable location for this development.

Why is this important?

So far a residents association has collected 700 signatures from the immediate area and it is necessary to escalate this to allow a greater response to this ill-advised proposal by a Council that has no interest in listening to its residents.

To Mr. Marchant Chief Executive CPC
Dear Sir, this has been sent to you by hand for your information, regarding proposed action regarding the Councils proposal.
PETITION FOR ACTION AGAINST THE PROPOSAL FOR
‘HUNGRY HORSE’ RESTAURANT AND BAR IN JOHN BURROUGHS SPORTS AND RECREATION GROUNDS
This committee has been informed that this proposal has been pushed through without reference to our local Councillors, or indeed local residents.
We believe that this proposal neither fits in with the original purpose of the covenant given to the people of Hadleigh by John Burroughs, or the original intended use of the sports ground.
We also believe that that CP Council have wilfully allowed the public hall to fall into a state of dilapidation and disrepair, and it should be refurbished as a sports facility with changing rooms serving the football pitches, and a Community Hall.
