Remove Bee-Killing 'Pesticides' From Shops

Remove Bee-Killing 'Pesticides' From Shops

Refuse to sell any garden products that are known to be dangerous to pollinators, especially bees.

Why is this important?

Many agricultural chemicals are harmful to insect pollinators and other wildlife, but people typically think those intended for use in the garden are safe. However, many of these products contain ingredients that are known to be toxic to bees and other beneficial insects, as well as important soil bacteria. Safe alternatives are available and there is no need to use poisons in your garden.

We encourage you to create a 'Bee-Friendly Zone' in your garden, where pollinators can safely live and forage. See for more.

Reasons for signing

  • It's very difficult to find the "active ingredient" on the bottle in the shop, so consumer choice doesn't work at all well. So a Ban is what's needed - there's some good evidence that these compounds are dangerous to bees, and although not conclusive, better safe than sorry (the "Precautionary principle") until the decline in the bee populations is much better understood.
  • This kind of disrespect for nature is glaikit
  • There is strong scientific evidence that these cause damage to bees. We cannot afford to lose our crop pollinators!
