Stop bus route changes to service 3 and 4

16/10/17 - We won!

Thank you for signing the petition Stop bus route changes to service 3 and 4, started by myself. I am delighted to say that Susan Elan Jones MP has released a statement this morning confirming the return of the services to the estate as of January or a trial basis. The service will be 1 per hour, which is sensible.

Thank you to John Phillips and Susan Elan Jones for their work on this. Thank you to everyone who supported this petition.

Scrap the changes to bus routes for services 3 and 4 affecting Afoneitha estate, Garden road and Rhostyllen.

Why is this important?

This is a very important issue for the OAP's and disabled members of the communities affected. These people use our bus service as a way of staying completely independent for as long as possible. These changes to this bus route will leave the most vulnerable members of our community alienated.

A short while ago, an elderly relative of mine walked home with a couple of bags of shopping. This is around the same distance as he would be forced to walk to and from his now closest bus stop - if these changes go ahead. Unfortunately due to this he suffered a heart attack. Thankfully he made a full recovery. My worry is that the people like the relative I speak of will just give up and stay at home. They shouldn't have to do this.

We have had a bus service to Afoneitha for as long as I remember, having grown up there. It's important to our OAP's and disabled folk that this service isn't taken away from them.

Stop the changes to service 3 and 4 - let Rhostyllen, Garden road and Afoneitha keep their vital bus service.

I've spoken to Rory Sheehan at the Evening leader who has agreed to use this petition as part of a story they will run. so that's going to help. Councillor for Garden road area David Maddocks has signed our petition and said he will be writing to Arriva to ask them to change their mind regarding this. I believe councillor John Philips will be doing the same.

Paper copies of this petition have been placed at the Coop in Rhostyllen, the convenience stores in Pen Y Cae (afoneitha and top of Penycae), iCandy Salon opposite Garden road surgery, and Tonys discount store in Rhos.

Please share this petition and give everyone a chance to sign. Thank you.
