Defend our A&E at Broomfield Hospital21/07/17 - We Won! NHS bosses have announced they are scrapping plans to downgrade Broomfield A&E. https://home.38degrees.org.uk/2017/07/24/victory-broomfields-ae-essex-saved/ We are obviously very pleased – this is a victory for people power' said Defend Our A&E Broomfield campaign coordinator Andy Abbott. 'It shows the importance of campaigning, of organising, and fighting back. Because if people in mid and south Essex had sat back and done nothing, these dangerous cuts to our A&E services would still be going ahead. So it's a big well done to the more than 30,000 people who have signed our paper and online petitions, and to the hundreds that have supported our public meetings and demonstrations.' 'However, the devil is always in the detail. So we await to see what the Success Regime's final proposals are. However at this stage it's a warm if cautious welcome to the announcement.' Goodwin Sands SOS - Stop the Dredge!Great news! 03/11/22 The news we have all been waiting for has at last arrived! The Port of Dover recently announced that it has abandoned its plans to dredge the Goodwin Sands for landfill for their port development. As you can imagine, after six and a half years of campaigning this news is extremely welcome as it clearly shows that development does not need to come at the expense of the environment. We would like to thank you all for your encouragement, donations and support, without which we would not have achieved this positive outcome. This campaign has definitely been a huge joint effort. We would like to recognise the support provided by our MP Natalie Elphicke who understood both the need for the port development and our concerns for the marine environment. We have no doubt that she was instrumental in encouraging the Port of Dover to source the necessary landfill elsewhere. Despite this result being a vindication of all we have fought for, we know this is just a battle won, not the whole war and we will not be resting on our laurels. We are acutely aware that assurances need to be sought from all the major stakeholders including The Crown Estate, the Environment Agency and the Marine Management Organisation that they will never allow the Goodwins to be exploited ever again. Thank you again for staying with us over the past six years and we look forward to keeping you updated on our continued work to Save Our Sands. Best wishes, Joanna and Fiona16,993 SignaturesCreated by Joanna Thomson

Two fire engines for ChesterSUCCESS AT LAST ! This Petition is now closed. THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE SUPPORTED OUR CAMPAIGN TO SEE THE RETURN OF CHESTER’S SECOND FIRE ENGINE. TOGETHER WE HAVE SUCCEEDED ! On July 1st 2020, Cheshire Fire Authority voted unanimously to accept the four year plan (IRMP) proposed by the Chief Fire Officer. In essence it was decided to return the Fire Engine from Powey Lane Fire Station back to St Anne Street in Chester City Centre when the new Fire Station (currently in build) is completed. This move will redress the current imbalance of resources whereby there are THREE WHOLE-TIME FIRE ENGINES located in close proximity North of the A5117 which are ideally placed to service Ellesmere Port, whereas there is currently only ONE WHOLE-TIME FIRE ENGINE to service the needs of Chester. Following the move each area will have TWO WHOLE-TIME FIRE ENGINES. This campaign has run continually for three and a half years ( following the Fire Engine being moved to Powey Lane Fire Station in January 2017) since when our campaign team "Chester Retired Firefighters" have amassed and presented irrefutable evidence supporting our claim. Thankfully the Senior Management Team of CFRS and the FA now recognize the issues we have raised and have voted for the pump to return. The success of this campaign is due, not only to the determination of "Chester Retired Firefighters" but is also due to the magnificent support we have been given by Chester MP Chris Matheson, Local Councillors from all parties, local business both large and small, our families and YOU THE PUBLIC. You should all feel justifiably proud in what has been achieved in making Chester and it’s surrounding areas safer. In total this online Petition and the paper version collected 7219 signatures which were presented to the Fire Authority. SINCERE THANKS TO YOU ALL. TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE Tony Jones (Michael Anthony Jones) Secretary.Chester Retired Firefighters3,112 SignaturesCreated by Michael Anthony Jones

Protect 535 NHS beds in Derbyshire11/04/18 Great news! Thank you for signing the petition! We have won this skirmish! Derbyshire NHS managers are now saying this about plans to scrap the 535 beds in Derbyshire: ''The original STP made heroic assumptions about bed reductions - we are now remodelling these in the light of the population and other factors''. Halt salmon industry expansion around Arran!25/03/21 We are delighted to share breaking news that the Millstone Point salmon battery farm application has been REJECTED! The North Ayrshire Council Planning Committee has just concluded their discussion of the application by the "Scottish" Salmon Company; the councillors voted unanimously to refuse the proposal. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported on this long journey. There may yet be more chapters to this saga if the decision is appealed by the applicant; but for now we celebrate this momentous decision which rightly acknowledges the special qualities of this area and the vital importance of Arran's natural environment to our wellbeing and economy. With very best wishes, Russ Cheshire on behalf of all the Friends of Millstone Point.7,846 SignaturesCreated by Russ Cheshire

Free tunnel access for emergency vehiclesDear Friends, Our petition presented to Merseytravel to allow emergency vehicles through the tunnel free of charge has been successful. I am pleased to see that common sense has prevailed, and that the right decision has been reached. Last year according to Merseytravel figures the cost to the emergency services was approx £185,000. Considering the constant cuts that threaten the emergency services this money can now be better spent supporting emergency services to the people of Wirral. Thanks Christopher Carubia996 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Carubia
