  • Hampstead calls on Sainsburys not to open a Local in South End Green
23/07/14 - Sainsburys are not opening a store on South End Green! "This is a seismic victory for the community who have acted with one voice to inform the senior management teams of the landlords, Dorringtons and Sainsburys of their concerns. ...Well done to you all. The world seems a better place to live today and by working together and continuing to nurture the connections that we have all made through this campaign, we can all secure a better tomorrow."

  • Keep GP out of hours services in St. Andrews
Thanks to your support the St. Andrews GP out of hours service has been saved. Last Friday the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership Board agreed to the remodelled service for North East Fife. It will mean that no-one, except a small number of people, will have to travel to Kirkcaldy to receive help with a primary care emergency. There is still work to be done to ensure smooth implementation which will probably take until Christmas but it is believed that the new flexible arrangement can last. It will involve slightly reducing the opening hours in the evening, using other health professionals, bringing together the minor injuries with the minor illness service and using the GP in the centre at night to do home visits too. The campaign was won thanks to you and the thousands of others who signed my petition, sent in a postcard, attended the packed public meetings and so much more. Also thank you to the coordinating group of community councils, the university, students, GPs and others who worked together to find a practical solution. I will continue to keep you informed of progress. You can find more regular updates at www.facebook.com/WillieRennieFife Willie Rennie Member of the Scottish Parliament North East Fife

  • Save York Station Ticket Office and Staffing Levels.
01/01/18 We Won! I wanted to share the good news with you that Virgin have listened to customers concerns and that their plans to revamp the station will include retaining a traditional ticket office. I think this shows the effectiveness of "people power". The local paper published an article about the petition after it was launched in July and another article about the successful outcome on Monday, 1st January. http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/15798711.Campaigners_welcome_ticket_office_U_turn/

  • Ask the Mayor to support a UK HIV/AIDS Memorial in London
8/2/17 - We Won! Great news this morning, the London Assembly unanimously voted to support us to establish a UK AIDS Memorial in London. A long way to go but this is a very important first step forwards. "Thanks to some lovely moving speeches from Assembly Members every single one was won over and it was voted for unanimously. A brilliant result and shows the campaign has real support here!" said Sian Berry. Thanks so much to everyone who signed the petition and especially to Sian Berry (Greens), Caroline Pidgeon (Liberal Democrats), Stephen Twigg (Labour), GMFA and 38 Degrees who paved the way for this to get this far. This is long over due, we must remember those 21,0000 British citizens who lost their lives, as well as all those worldwide. AIDS is not over. Many live with HIV and new infections are found each day. We must fight on together. London can one day stand proud with so many other cities worldwide, who already have built AIDS memorials. Please continue to follow us on social media: #AidsMemorialUK
