Thanks, 38 Degrees, for facilitating this. The Council backed down. Now there's a new 38 Degrees petition to save Telferton allotments in Edinburgh from the predations of a housebuilder.

UPDATE: 10/12/15 Today has been a very good day! The councillors voted unanimously to accept our petition, and voted to never sell the Staffordshire Countryside and Green Spaces to private investors. I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has signed this petition. Many of you will be aware of the toxicity of glyphosate and understand the need to ban this dangerous chemical. I am pleased to be able to report to you all that the council supports a ban on glyphosate and is looking into what pesticides are currently used to be able to confirm or implement a glyphosate free policy. This may take some time and in the meantime I will be closing the campaign to reflect the council's action in this matter.

UPDATE November 2014: The aim for a public meeting to be held by the Heart Of England Trust to discuss their proposals for change and for patients to have their voice heard, has been successfully achieved. However, there are still other very important aims to fulfill, as the fight to save key local hospital services continues. Thus a NEW PETITION has now been set up here to oppose cuts at the hospital. UPDATE: Bunn Leisure contacted the 38 Degrees office. They said that as a family business they are a compassionate company and they have agreed to definitely issue a refund as soon as they receive the relevant paperwork. They are also going to change their refund policy so that this can never become an issue for anyone else in the future.

Victory! NDAs to Silence Victims of Misconduct to Be Banned! Thanks to pressure from campaigners, survivors, and over 93,500 of you who signed this petition, the UK government has just announced a ban on the use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to silence workers who experience harassment and discrimination. This is a huge step forward for workers’ rights. For too long, NDAs have been misused by bad bosses to cover up serious misconduct, from harassment to assault, forcing people into silence and letting perpetrators off the hook. Now, that’s about to change. The new rules part of the Employment Rights Bill will: - Ban gagging clauses in NDAs that stop victims and witnesses from speaking out - Protect whistleblowers who want to call out bad behaviour - Ensure justice for workers across all industries, including those in insecure or low-paid jobs This moment belongs to everyone who broke their silence and to you, for standing with them. But it’s not over yet. We’ll keep pushing to make sure this becomes law and is enforced properly so no one is ever forced into silence again. Thank you for being part of this win.
