  • 20mph zone for Cromer Road School
03/10/19 We did it!! Finally!! The 20mph limit was approved at the Council Meeting of the 3rd October Thank you to the 700 local residents who signed the petition and supported the campaign, to the school, the staff, parents & carers & the local shops & of course to the local Labour Party members for their support. We don’t know the timescales for implementation, as the new rules about public questions are really restrictive, but it will go out for statutory consultation initially. The scheme includes an “unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles” sign at the start of Cromer Road, and a review & reset of the current Vehicle Activated Sign (which is pretty pointless where it is currently - set to go off when someone exceeds 30mph, sited within a short distance of the start of the road). CCTV to enforce the school zig zags and the one way system have not yet been approved, but council officers have said they will come back with a proposal at a later meeting. WELL DONE EVERYONE!!! This isn’t the end of the road though. We'll need to keep following up with them to make sure they stick to their promises, which I fully intend to! Thank you! Philippa Whitecross

  • Refugees Welcome in Newton Abbot Devon
Today (10/2/16) Teignbridge District Council passed in full to accept 6 families up to 30 people in homes in the area. It is hoped that more can follow if it is a success. There was great compassion shown by the council members and it is a great credit to them. It is expected that it will take about 10 weeks for the first to arrive. Thank you all for making this happen. Kind Regards Russell Cornish

  • Humans Before Houses - Build the link road first
The link road will be built. In July this year Devon County Council agreed that the link road will be built, and the funding has been agreed. It may take another 2 years to actually be built, it's now all dependent on agreements and contracts etc.

07/05/19 - BREAKING! WE WON! Guinness world records have made an official announcement and have updated their rules and awarded the record: @guinnessworldrecords "Our guidelines for running a marathon in a nurse’s uniform were out of date and reflected a stereotype we do not wish to perpetuate. For that we apologise. We have now awarded Jessica Anderson the record for fastest marathon wearing a nurse’s uniform." https://twitter.com/GWR/status/1125756441762107393
