Scrap Council 'wellbeing' surcharges for care home residents

Local councils are adding and increasing surcharges payable by people who live in care homes. The so-called 'wellbeing' charges can range from £9 to £77 per week for people who live on small fixed incomes and are extremely dependent on the services provided by their local social services.

These charges are being forced on those who have no choice but to pay or lose vital services that help them carry out basic tasks and to live reasonably independently. They are forced on local authorities facing huge budget cuts forced upon them by the government.

Why is this important?

It is important as the cuts are hurting the pensioners and the disabled, as because of the cuts social services and local councils are charging us a so called well being charge, this will only be well being to the council not us who will have to pay this on top of our rents which are high, £623.48 every four weeks.
