Zebra crossing for st Marys school

We want a zebra crossing in place for the safety of parents and children crossing  Castlefields Avenue South Runcorn Cheshire WA7 2NR .

Why is this important?

This is so important because since the new Mersey gateway bridge has been built we now have new road layout in the area which is making more traffic use this road. The road already has a 20mph speed limit on it but drivers do not take any notice. There have been many accidents and collisions in the past year on this road due to speeding. We would like a safe crossing and more enforcement on the speed limit before someone is knocked down and killed.

This is the email I received today from Halton borough council. Well done everyone!
Thank you for your enquiry regarding traffic conditions at Castlefields Avenue South, Runcorn. I have reviewed the collision data, as supplied by Cheshire Police, and can find no record of any injury collisions here in the previous 5 years. I have also visited the site and feel that the installation of a formal crossing point would not be appropriate, given that there is a footway on one side of the road only. The existing traffic calming features are in good repair and are at appropriate spacings and there is a 20mph speed limit in place. However, there are no 20 repeater signs near the School to reinforce the message that this is a 20 zone and as such, I will arrange to have some installed. I will also contact Cheshire Police, asking that they will carry out some speed enforcement here.
Kind Regards
