  • HPV Vaccine for every boy in the country
Girls are already being immunised against HPV, to protect them against cancer of the cervix. Young men are being diagnosed with life damaging papillomatosis, cancer of the tonsils, anal cancer, and also acting as vectors for HPV spread in women. Epidemiologists, the BMA, Ear,Nose and Throat surgeons, Colorectal surgeons, all agree that protecting all our young people , not just girls is an essential, and fair, public health measure.

  • Dartford
No to another Crossing In Dartford Kent
The Original Consultation Paper was not promoted out to the people in the locality broadly enough, as with recent Consultations for example Paramount Plans - a letter went to every household. Talking to local people who will be most affected by this decision, majority were unaware that a Consultation even took place. Removing the Toll booths may speed up the traffic and obviously continue to generate the relevant financial return but more traffic will be driven into this already over-congested area. If this decision relies solely on cost we know that Dartford will be the area as the infrastructure is there and this will save the Government millions. This is unfair and in a way inhumane to continue to over-pollute an area already polluted. I do not believe any research was conducted with regard to air quality.

  • Crowborough
    Save Crowborough Birthing Centre
The Crowborough Birthing Centre was the first midwife led birthing centre in the country. It is much valued by all the mothers in the area. Unfortunately because of the problems in the Eastbourne NHS Trust the Crowborough unit keeps being closed temporarily and was under threat of total closure. Not only does the unit provide something approaching a normal home birth it is also very cost effective. Because of the threats of closure there has been moves to transfer the unit to the Pembury hospital under the Maidstone NHS Trust where the future of the unit would be more secure.

  • Review of tax credits system
People are not claiming benefits that they are entitled to for fear of finding themselves in debt, or because it can take so long to get through on the telephone. Also because once it has been deemed that tax credits have been overpaid people are powerless to appeal against the decision

  • Government agree to NHS testing pregnant Mums for GBS
Because I was lucky to have been tested while I was pregnant and found to have it. If I hadn't had other problems, that test wouldn't have been done and my daughter may not have survived. I still read so many stories from other people who have lost their new babies to this killer.

  • Demand ATOS take on the extra staff needed for PIP claims
What is a claimant supposed to do in the meantime for paying their mortgage and bills. The cleaners and carers needed to take care of a claimant will not wait for their payment, The whole process just is far too slow. People who are disabled can be claiming PIP for all kinds of ailments. Some of which, adding stress to their situation, will only make their health worse. How can this current situation be acceptable. Why aren't the ministers and MP's, who are in place to help, are not making a debate in parliament about this. They are in their positions to help the people of the UK. Please sign this petition and force them to act now.

  • Eastbourne
Eastbourne DGH: Local Services for Local People
We need our hospital services back. Maternity and paediatric services at Eastbourne District General Hospital (DGH) were downgraded a year ago. The local NHS Trust said it was a temporary measure. Now we are facing a bleak future with these core services likely to be lost forever in Eastbourne. Why? In May 2013, the local NHS Trust centralised consultant-led maternity services for the area at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings leaving only a midwifery unit at the DGH. At the same time it stopped overnight care for children at the Eastbourne hospital. We were assured these changes were temporary for 18 months only. In the meantime, the East Sussex Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), the organisation which commissions NHS services, launched a review of permanent services for maternity, paediatrics and emergency gynaecology in East Sussex. It drew up six options, none of which include a two-site option for consultant- delivered services. Option 6 (selected by the CCGs) will keep consultant-led services for maternity and paediatrics at the Conquest Hospital. So people in Eastbourne will have to travel to Hastings for this care with an average total transfer time of 1 hour 34 minutes from the DGH to the Conquest. This far exceeds acceptable safety limits for many interventions such as emergency Caesarean sections. What is our alternative? Save the DGH launched an alternative proposal for the CCGs to consider alongside its six options. Option 7 keeps consultant-led maternity services, emergency gynaecology and in-patient paediatrics at both hospitals. Our proposal also maintains a level one special care baby unit and a short stay paediatric assessment unit at the DGH and the Conquest. It also goes further by stating that all core services, like emergency general surgery and emergency orthopaedics which have recently been removed, are needed and should be provided at the DGH. Option 7 maintains all of the services that the IRP stated must remain. Why do we need Jeremy Hunt's help? The CCGs made a ruling on permanent changes to services in June and selected Option 6. Then HOSC met on the 28th July and failed to refer the decision back to the Secretary of State. The IRP ruling states that these Consultant-led services must remain in Eastbourne and Hastings and therefore we ask Jeremy Hunt to intervene and enforce the IRP ruling. People living in Eastbourne deserve a hospital in the town that provides them with the care they need. If maternity and paediatrics are permanently downgraded at the DGH, we will have the most disadvantaged town in the UK for the population size. Please support us by signing. We need your help!
