A Public Holiday for Remembrance Day

I would like to see a new public holiday created for the 11th November each year, as a mark of respect enabling us to remember the fallen at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month every year.

Why is this important?

The U.K. has far fewer public holidays than most countries. I believe it would be appropriate to create this new one so that we could remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom on the actual day that was originally intended, rather than on the nearest Sunday. 2018 marks the centenary of the end of World War 1 and this would be an ideal occasion to make this change, to take effect from 2019: 11.11.18 is a Sunday!
