Enact a new Bill of Rights with an amendment to guarantee freedom of speech
Petition Members of Parliament to enact a new Bill of Rights when we leave the European Union. The Government promised to enact a new Bill of Rights and this must be honoured. We must have an amendment that guarantees the right to freedom of speech without fear of persecution by the State.
Why is this important?
Britain has no written constitution and Brexit is the perfect opportunity to enact a new constitution, particularly guaranteeing freedom of expression to all British citizens. We should have a First Amendment like the United States that enshrines the right to freedom of expression without fear of arrest for 'hate speech'. All opinions are equally valid and this must be recognised in law.
