Rename Parliament entrance 'Palmer Gate'

Rename the gate at Parliament where the brave police officer gave his life. Call it "Palmer Gate".

Why is this important?

Recognise this brave man's sacrifice on behalf of freedom and democracy.

PC Keith Palmer tragically died, tackling the terrorist who attacked Parliament. He may fade from the headlines in the weeks and months to come, but renaming the gate after him will be a lasting tribute to someone who acted to protect all of us.

This wasn't just a man doing his job, when Keith was called upon he took the decision to stand up for all of us, he went forward rather than running backwards. Renaming the gate at Parliament would cost nothing, but the gesture and memory of British bobby Keith Palmer's bravery will last for hundreds of years.

Reasons for signing

  • I believe PC Palmer's death will be the first in direct defence of the Houses of Parliament in 250 - 300 years. A very brave man gave his life to protect the 'Seat of Democracy', and the feely elected members therein. He deserves to be recognised for his selfless, heroic act, unfortunately paying the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.
  • because he was just doing his job
  • I'm happy to support this call. It's a fitting tribute to a man who gave everything for the cause of peace and democracy for all. Our democracy will be around long after this divisive and poisonous ideology has been defeated - It's only right that PC Palmer's part in Parliament's story is recognised and preserved for future generations.
