Save Carlisle Women's Refuge

Save Carlisle Women's Refuge

Please reconsider plans to cut funding to short term housing. Understandable money is tight due to cuts in the amount of money central government provide. Please consider petitioning central government for more money.

Why is this important?

The refuge is a safe place for women who's lives have been shattered by rape, sexual assault and domestic violence. Without this safe place, which although only short term, provides much needed breathing space. Not only that it shows these people that not everyone is out to hurt them. The removal of funding for these vital services, gives abused women the message that no one cares and it is ok for them to be abused. Is this a good message to send out across Cumbria?

Reasons for signing

  • There are already too few refuges for D.V , when DV is still close another refuge would be devastating to the the women that need it!!
  • in 1958 there was nowhere for women to go i suffered
  • I've been there , it lasted for 23 years . I would probably be dead now but the Women's refuge in Carlisle made a massive difference , i now have a new life and i'm very happy now.
