SAVE OUR GREEN - MONTAGU ESTATE

Please don't build on the last piece of green land on Montagu Estate.

Why is this important?

Investors ISOS wish to build 12 houses on the last field on our estate. This is the last piece of green for our children to play on and people to walk their dogs.

We used to have a strip of green through the estate and now there is only 19% left and they want to take that away from us also.

There are other sites (brown field) which are ready for development, but in less desirable areas.

If they developed on our Burnfoot Way site this would have a detrimental impact upon residential amenities and the standard of living for the whole community, reduce house prices for private owners, prevent the disabled and elderly from any visible greenery.

• With no place to go our children will not be able to play.
• A possible 30-40 people to share what is left of our space.
• Over-development will crowd our area with more brick and square walls, leaving little to no character left.
• For 6 months to a year our area will be flooded with noise and smell from construction of these buildings.
• Loss of privacy.
• Overshadowing/loss of light on roads and bottom floor flats.
• Public services, such as drainage and water supply.
• Highway safety is compromised: traffic generation, road capacity, means of access, visibility, car parking and effects on pedestrians/cyclists.

We need your support again to Save Havannah Nature Reserve.

We need to protect the remaining nature reserve which is one of only two areas of lowland heath left in Newcastle.

Please log into the site below and log your formal objections to the build:

Very sorry to have to inform everyone, but unfortunately the planning committee have accepted the application from ISOS, we had 2 voting against the application.
Part of the agreement for the application is for there to be £30,000 in funding to develop the remaining space. This could be to enhance it with plants, seating etc or to develop a play area with basketball hoops etc. ISOS and the Fairer homes department within the council have agreed to work with residents to ask their views on this aspect of the development.
Thank you again to everyone who has offered their support with this campaign.

Here is an article reporting on the above:

Again many thanks for your support,
From the Save Our Green team.

Dear supporters,

We have a provisional date for the planning meeting of the 3rd of February and the decision will be made at the planning meeting. This will be our last chance to object the build.

We need as many people there to support us in objecting to the build, please come along to the meeting at the Civic Centre.

If you could continue to support us and get as many people to sign the petition as possible. We have 871 signatures and we would love it if we could get over 1000 before the planning meeting.

Can you help spread the word by forwarding the link below to your friends, family, work colleagues and via social media?
