We demand that Tobias Ellwood MP resign his parliamentary seat

In the light of Tobias Ellwood's comments regarding the recommended increase in MP's pay, we believe that he has displayed a contemptuous disregard for the financial difficulties being experienced by the electorate he serves in this time of austerity. With this in mind we believe that he does not truly represent the views of his constituents. Although this does not satisfy the specific requirement of the Recall of Members of Parliament Act 2015, we nevertheless believe that Mr Ellwood should be recalled, obliged to resign his seat, and should stand for re-election in the constituency of Bournemouth East.

Why is this important?

Mr Ellwood's recent claim that his MP's salary is insufficient shows a disregard for and disconnect from his many constituents who have accepted limited or no pay increases over recent years in order to boost the nation's economic recovery. Furthermore we feel that his enthusiasm for a pay increase of 10% at a time when public service employees are being restricted to rises of 1%, shows contempt for his electorate and a self-serving attitude which is not in the interest of his constituents.

So,
while Tobias Ellwood struggles by on his paltry salary and allowances, we read that he has claimed over £140,000 in expenses over the last year and even had to be named and shamed over his failure to repay a parking fee!
Not content with that, the government of which he is a member has now voted to cut tax credits for those people who really DO have to "watch the pennies" (interesting how the newspapers are not leading on this today as Jeremy Corbyn's failure to sing the national anthem is, apparently, far more important)
I know I have asked you to share this petition on several occasions, but please, please keep this going. Tobias Ellwood's hypocrisy and contempt for his voters must not go unchallenged.
We are comfortably beyond 1000 signatures now so let's keep the pressure on.

Thanks
Phil

Mr Ellwood has now issued an apology for his comments via his facebook page, but it still does not recognise the hardships being faced by many of his constituents during this period of continued austerity. Let's keep this petition going and force Mr Ellwood to stand for re-election on the strength of his own record. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/13463919._I_m_sorry___Tobias_Ellwood_apologises_for__causing_offence__over_MPs_pay_rise_comments/
