Cut House of Lords Attendance Allowance

In these days of austerity and the apparent need to cut benefits, surely it is time to assess whether the House of Lords daily attendance allowance of £300 is appropriate.

Why is this important?

The recent scandal involving Lord Sewel has highlighted the fact that peers can claim a £300 allowance for sitting in the Upper Chamber. Surely this level of subsidy is the real scandal here!
