Keep Greenhaugh First School open

Northumberland County Council withdrew their proposal to close our school, along with their proposal to close many others in our area. With your help, we saved Greenhaugh First School!

Reconsider the NCC school closure proposals. Give schools and communities more time for consultation. Work together with communities and schools to come up with an alternative proposal for Northumberland education for the next 40 years.

Why is this important?

16 first schools are at risk of closure to fit in with a proposal from one Academy Trust. If you close these schools down 16 struggling rural communities will loose young families because they won't have a local school for their children. This will rip the heart out of our communities. Imagine living in an area with no children.

Reasons for signing

  • Decisions on such a scale need to be done thoughtfully, with adequate time, and full consultation, and no hint of a hidden agenda
  • For a community to thrive it needs a good infrastructure. This includes schools.
  • Proposals are too detrimental for the viability of the local villages
