Lili's Rights
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council refuse to spend the additional money on specialist carers for this complex little girl to remain at her home and would rather waste public money to the tune of over £200k a year on placing her into residential care home.
Lili’s mother has what is considered to be the most painful condition known to man, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, which MTCBC refuse to recognise. This disability damages nerves and tissue, wastes muscle, thins and deforms bones and can spread from limb to organ.
Lili has an older brother with autism who will be distraught at losing his sister.
MTCBC has spent the last 4 years arguing interdepartmentally over which budget should foot the bill for the home care plan and adaptations she needs to remain at home, whilst the needs of Lili have been unmet.
MTCBC has stonewalled the families solicitor and the Assembly Member by their lack of requested communications and they provide little information to the family.
Lili is unable to communicate as she is unable to speak and therefore it is up to us as a community to support Lili to remain in her home with people she loves and trusts to care for her with the consistent support and facilities MTCBC has identified she needs.

Why is this important?
Lili Thomas is a non verbal 12 year old child with severe autism, severely learning disabled, ADHD, PICA, Precocious Puberty and Dyspraxia. The Local Authority are unable to fulfil the Care and Support Plan they produced last April and are in the process of taking her away from her loving family and placing her into a residential care home in order to fulfil what should be provided at home to dig themselves out of a hole.
