Scrap PIP (Personal Independence Payment) & restore DLA (Disability Living Allowance.)

Scrap PIP (Personal Independence Payment) & restore DLA (Disability Living Allowance.)

1) Scrap PIP (Personal Independence Payment) & restore DLA (Disability Living Allowance.)

2) End Discrimination in Disability Benefit Assessments especially where invisible disabilities are the main or only presenting issue.

Why is this important?

http://www.channel4.com/info/press/news/the-great-benefits-row-channel-4-dispatches

showed the extent of the problems faced by disabled people of all sorts in claiming Social Security Benefits. People with "invisible disabilities" e.g. mental health issues face particular problems in these assessments. I wrote a UK gov petition which was rejected on the ground that someone had created something 'similar.' I believe that to be a quite spurious response to the serious allegation,

"PIP assessments are not fit for purpose. They are especially unfit
where non-physical disability predominates. The result is that people
who used to qualify under DLA, and whose condition may actually have
deteriorated, are suddenly found not to fit the PIP 'criteria.'"

During the Channel 4 programme shown 11.4 2016, various people agreed
with the premise that PIP assessments are not fit for purpose. The
assessments are covert, superficial and unfair especially where mental
health is the presenting issue.

There is clear bias in these assessments and that constitutes discrimination against people with "invisible disabilities." If you agree then please sign the petition and pass it on to your friends and family and networks. Thank you.

How it will be delivered

In person via MP ~ if not then via press conference and email.

Reasons for signing

  • My husband receiving lower rate pip after having 3 strokes and is housebound the scoring system is an absolute joke.
  • The PIP assessments are not fit for purpose.
  • Because I have been through this and it's a horrible experience, It's not my fault I have a mental illness and I am sick of being victimised by the DWP

In the Animal Farm parallel dystopian universe singularity that is the 'cabinet,' public sector = "overpaid," flip private sector = "good..." https://twitter.com/EL4JC/status/886521323517857792/video/1

Yet they have taken away ALL our pay recognizing we are disabled workers... there are over 6,900 of you in that position. Will you personally ask ≥2 other people to sign this petition today? In youguv petitions they don't even get out of bed until 10,000 signatures... Whether we are, or have been, public or private sector workers or neither we must stand together to defeat this injustice.

Lifting the 1% pay cap for Public Sector Workers, of itself, would be welcome. Of course it's only talk among themselves at the moment... something the regime loves to do. Their motive, however, is not one based on social justice, rather borne of electoral panic in the more vulnerable swing Tory shires finding a voice or two at 'cabinet.'

Questions concerning disabled workers such as us, i.e. whether or not we are working outside the home, who have had their DLA stolen by unqualified guttersnipes at ATOS or Capita have yet to achieve even that level of recognition...

Post tightly-controlled, cartel-rigged "Election" Special: http://www.sandysteel.co.uk/

Many, many thanks to everyone sharing our vision for social justice and for this action in particular... but we're not out of the woods yet and we still need everyone to keep on sharing... as far and as widely as humanly possible. The momentum IS with us (!)

The current 'government,' which likes to pretend it's a low-tax, small-state kinda of thing is clearly in need of lots of our cash...

The current 'government' with its imposition of pasty tax, bedroom tax, dementia tax etc etc and cuts to legal aid and Law Centres to challenge many types of social security 'decisions,' with consequent negative effect on e.g. so-called Council Tax discount, and cuts to (along with privatization of) the NHS etc is, in reality, a high tax kinda thing. We are being bled - but not for the things of which we approve.

They've also slashed eligibility for Warm Home Discount https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/reverse-cuts-to-warm-home-discount and now find themselves in turmoil over winter fuel payment and inheritance and terrorism and Policing... it's chaos.

The recent comment about invisible disabilities not being 'real' http://www.itv.com/news/2017-02-26/theresa-mays-head-of-policy-criticised-over-pip-comments/ clearly demonstrates ingrained political dogma.

For what purpose do they "need" to claw back the little bit of social security that empowered and minimally compensated us? Where has our money gone?

The party I rejoined when it appeared to have rediscovered its bottle says it reversed these cuts... but they, driven in part by the crisis in capitalism, remain however one dresses it up. At the sharp end where we live they are vindictive, destructive of spirit... ultimately counterproductive. But that's neoCON-ism for you...

The 'government' is smarting as a result of losing two Court cases re PIP last year. It seems it retaliated with plans to further tighten the eligibility criteria! That is nothing short of utterly despicable. We already know that if you can stand on one leg, whilst scratching your _ with your elbow and whistling dick c ~ then ATOS etc will find we aren't disabled at all and award "royaume uni nil pwong." Meanwhile MPs award themselves an inflation-busting PAY RISE ~ you couldn't make it up…

We want a future real government to recognize the financial needs of all people with disabilities, don't we? We will want them to scrap PIP (and DLA for that matter ~ we don't care what it's called!) and do the right thing.
