To: Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, NHS Medical Director for England

Re-Open A&E local services in the North East

Provide more local Accident and Emergency Services.

Why is this important?

Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, NHS Medical Director for England has opened a £75 million super hospital in Northumberland. It is his vision of the future for all hospitals in the U.K.

Sir Bruce explained: “This is all about ensuring patients with complicated needs or life threatening conditions get to a centre with the appropriate expertise in place. The challenges facing A&E services across the country are immense and OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE is very much in line with what Northumbria Healthcare have already been developing with the opening of the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital to look after THOSE WITH SERIOUS, LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES." (Please see photo / http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/nhs-whistleblower-fears-patients-die-6875670 .)

“It is testament to the clinical teams at Northumbria, who began thinking about their NEW MODEL OF EMERGENCY CARE many years ago, that the North East is now well ahead of other parts of the NHS in making THE NATIONAL VISION for urgent and emergency care a reality for patients." (See photo.)

“I very much look forward to returning to the North East to see first-hand progress with the hospital which will be at the forefront of emergency medicine.”

My name is Martin Jackson and I work for a North East Ambulance service and I would like to invite Bruce back to the North East to see first-hand the progress.

At least 3 local A & E units, from North Tyneside to Hexham have now changed into 24/7 'Urgent care centres'.

This super hub which you have created may work for parcels or pizza delivery but we are talking here about peoples’ lives.

This is one result of your vision for the future of all hospitals...

120 mile emergency round trip passing Berwick, Alnwick, Ashington and Cramlington Hospitals.
This is a fact which can be verified by the Ambulance service.
The Ambulance service uses a TerraFix system. It is a sat. nav. which logs the location and time of every ambulance in the North East.

We had just cleared at your new super-hospital in Cramlington and got a shout to a sick baby. Driving in fog up the A1 on blues and twos 60 miles north to Berwick hospital. The infant was in a hospital with a mild case of croup. The Berwick hospital could not cope and wanted the child to be seen at Cramlington. We blue lighted the infant to Cramlington and fortunately arrived before 11 o'clock because paediatric A & E closes at 11.

If the call had been life threatening we would have had to continue an extra 20 minutes to Newcastle.

This must raise several serious questions.

My main question is to Jeremy Hunt and Sir Bruce Keogh:
If this was your child with meningitis, would you be happy with this service?

A 2 hour stretcher wait before even being booked in? This is happening NOW.
This is a fact which can be verified by the ambulance service TerraFix system.

Thinking about the "Golden Hour", so crucial to stroke patients.
This is your NHS.
Is this what you want?
This is not the desolate North East.
Please take a second to stand up and be counted.
Please click this petition and feel good for the rest of the day.
Thank you!
martin
The views expressed in this petition do not necessarily reflect the views of the North East Ambulance service.

How it will be delivered

I have just contacted public representatives M.P. Anne Marie Trevelyan and M.P. Ronnie Campbell to arrange a meeting to hand in the petition.

1400 Thank yous' so far.

Updates

Worse Response Times Than During the Korean War.

A recent F.O.I. request to NEAS proves that waiting times have deteriorated since opening. The "Golden Hour" for emergency trauma was created during the Korean War and treatment of a stroke patient within 20 minutes drastically improves the chances of a full recovery. These times are not achievable for most of Northumberland.
Anne-Marie Trevelyan M.P. has just received £293 Million of an estimated £600 Million for a "Duelling" the A1, meanwhile we have only one A & E Department.

This must be wrong.
Please forward this to friends and family and Please contact your M.P.'s so that in another 3 years we don't have to pester our paid representatives to provide basic emergency care.
Thank you.

Sorry for the lack of activity but I have just received a F.O.I. form the North East Ambulance Service which confirms that the situation has deteriorated. What follows is a damning update on Jeremy Hunts' vision of one super hospital in Northumberland. Please forward the update to friends who may not have signed yet and I will keep pushing the petition under the noses of our paid representatives / Honourable MPs' who have allowed this disgrace to exist.
Many thanks.
Martin

It's a lot to ask but if you could cut and paste the update to our M.Ps'.

It really will help raise awareness and you will have feel-good glow all day, honestly.

It looks like Liverpool is getting a super hospital so it's worth sharing Bruce Keoghs' "glimpse of the future" with the entire country. Thank you.

Nearly one year after opening and nothing has changed at Jeremy Hunts' Super Hospital. We still have 2000 square miles with 300,00 people and only one hospital, in the flight-path of an international airport, minutes from city hospitals.
Stoke hospital has identical problems.

Like hundreds of NHS whistle blowers I was sacked from the North East Ambulance service. Ironically the manager of the Super Hospital, Jim McKey, was promoted to head of NHS Improvements. Jim has sanctioned the use of over 100 injunctions preventing staff from whistle blowing.

Thanks again for taking the time to support this petition. Please share because this vision is coming to a town near you soon; but that's the problem, your local hospital will close and this vision will not be near you, when you need it most.

Maybe a couple of clicks could send something like this...

Dear Member of Parliament,
I know that I am not one of your constituents but the patients which I travel to are and this effects every person in the North East.

I would be grateful if you could make the government aware of the serious issue of Accident and Emergency services in the North East. It effects the lives of everybody in the region.
Please help.

Hello, 1300 Thank Yous'!!
I have been asked to take the petition down, 38 Degrees understands how important this issue is and have agreed to amend the original petition. The essential point is that 300,000 have only one A & E unit. I do not want to delete the voices of 1300 people.

I've just emailed 17 MPs' and 8 newspapers for help to raise the voice of this critical problem.

I'll stay in touch.
Thanks again.

257 Brilliant! Thanks.
I know that this is a big ask but this is a big problem.
So far I've emailed a dozen North East M.P.'s and only one has got back to me. Ronnie Campbell.
What does a person have to do to attract the attention of the people who represent us in parliament?
I'm asking if you would help a bit more and contact your M.P. It's just a couple of clicks.

If you cut and paste this list of M.P.'s into the "To" part of your Compose email thing.

Then just cut and paste this with your own name etc. and click "send".

It is a lot and many thanks if you do help, if you don't send it then thanks anyway and "fingers crossed" at the next accident or emergency.

Many Thanks, Martin

Lord Howell said that they should Frack in " The desolate North East."
Sir Keogh said that NSECH is the "National vision" for emergency care.

The North East has been plundered by London for its coal, its shipyards, its steel and now Fracking.

It is only desolate because these people have left the region with only 36 A & E beds for over 300,000 people.

How could such an idea even get passed the planning stage?!
