Stop the Closure of Deer Park Medical Centre

Please do not allow Deer Park Medical Centre to close.

Why is this important?

Deer Park Medical Centre is a GP Practice providing an excellent service to a large number of people in West Witney due to close on the 3rd November 2016. It is currently being serviced under contact to Virgin Care. Whilst many of us do not agree with the privatisation of health services, Virgin are undoubtedly providing a good service. Whatever it takes to keep this practice open must be done. You cannot seriously consider allowing it to close. Other GP practices in Witney are already badly overstretched and waiting times for an appointment are often measured in weeks. This is not the case at Deer Park, I am a patient and have never had to wait more than days, also they operate walk in clinics for urgent cases. Please don't use the people of West Witney as political pawns in this dangerous game.

Make no mistake, if you live in Witney you will be affected if this goes ahead. It makes no sense. The Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group email address is [email protected]. Please consider emailing them to explain what you think of their plans to reduce the number of Doctors operating in Witney and extend the already stretched waiting lists of the other practices in the town who despite OCCG comments to the contrary, say they are not able to cope with the extra load (this is before extra houses come on stream). This is not just going to affect Deer Park Residents, everyone will suffer. Get on board and fight this madness.

At the meeting last evening it became clear that if Deer Park Medical Center were to close then patients of all the surgeries in Witney would suffer as their already stretched resources would have to take the strain. Waiting times for apointments would be first to suffer this would affect almost everyone in the local area. If you live locally please sign and get your friends and neighbours to understand the importance of this issue and take action!

The Witney town council is hosting a public meeting to discuss the planned closure of Deer Park Medical Centre in the Corn Exchange at 6.30pm on Wed October 26.

Please attend if you can.

I believe there has been a temporary extension of the service until 31st March 2017 but this is simply a stay of execution.
