Stop This Road To Nowhere

Stop This Road To Nowhere

At the same time as health and care services are being cut the Government and East Sussex County Council are planning to spend over £100 million on a three-mile road that will actually increase overall traffic levels in Hastings and Bexhill, and significantly increase carbon emissions (a major cause of man-made climate change) and destroying one of the area’s greatest treasures, Combe Haven Valley. It’s a huge waste public money and an environmental disaster.

Why is this important?

We are local people, determined to prevent the environmentally disastrous white-elephant that is the “Bexhill-Hastings Link Road” from devastating one of Hastings’ and Bexhill’s most amazing natural treasures. We demand an affordable, sustainable transport system for our area, that improves the quality of all our lives without costing the earth.

Reasons for signing

  • Unforgivable desecration of a beautiful valley for no reason at all. Fix the railway to Hastings, don't destroy the area's finest assets.
  • Having recently visited the area, the scheme looks to me like a solution in search of a problem.
  • Building the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road & Building new roads will seriously damage the planet, the environment and severely disrupt the economy. The UK Government (whoever is in power) needs to be properly sorted out and the UK Government (whoever is in power) needs to reconsider and permanently re-think it's plan by coming up with other ideas which will help our planet, the environment and without disrupting the economy. This is getting extremely serious now and this is NOT acceptable!!!
