Save Liverpool City Council's Autistic Training Team

Fantastic News!
Liverpool City Council has confirmed today, that the two posts will not be cut and remain as part of the Council’s ASD Training Team. We would like to thank Councillor’s Barry Kushner and Nick Small for all of their help with this.

We would like to offer a massive thank you, to all those wonderful parents/carers and supporters who have contacted us, shared our posts and signed our petition in support of the ASD Training Team.

We would also like to express our appreciation and thanks to all those adults and young people within the autistic community for their support and comments.

All of your backing has made a huge difference in helping to save a valuable and much needed service.

Thank you all very, very, much!

Save Liverpool City Council's Autistic Training Team

Please do not cut this vital service to autistic children and their families.

Why is this important?

There are a huge number of children being diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) within Liverpool and across the UK. Following an ASD diagnosis, it is vital that parents/carers are supported and have access to quality professional training to help their child.

Liverpool City Council provides good quality ASD training to parents/carers that is delivered by two fantastic professionals who have a wealth of knowledge around ASD and it's associated conditions. This is a lifeline to parents/carers helping them to gain an insight and understanding around autism, along with an opportunity for them to gain greater confidence, strategies and knowledge to support their child.

Liverpool City Council are currently consulting regarding a number of service review proposals. One of the proposals is to delete the ASD training team from the council structure.

Cutting this service and the training team, will have a huge impact upon many, many children and their families, and have an effect upon their mental health and wellbeing now and in the future.

Reasons for signing

  • My grandson has Autism.
  • Surely in breach of Disability Act. Council needs a legal challenge based on Disability Act
  • My Grandson has autism. It has a big impact on all the family. More training is needed not less. I am sure they will see that those with autism are not without a voice. We speak for them.
