Say 'No' to 15 years of Oil Drilling in the Lincs Wolds AONB

24/11/21 GREAT NEWS! We did it!

With your help, we managed to persuade Lincolnshire County Council to say "No" to oil drilling at Biscathorpe in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to our rare chalk stream....and we just want to send you a HUGE THANK YOU!
Our petition really helped raise the profile of our campaign and we're immensely grateful for every single signature.
Last Monday’s decision was an enormous victory for people power. BUT... we’ve still got a fight ahead of us. Egdon Resources have said they may Appeal the decision so we are going to keep our petition running, and we may need your support again in the coming months.
We hope we can count on you to help us see this through but, for now, let’s celebrate this victory for people power.
Thank you from the bottom of our precious chalk-stream,
SOS Biscathorpe

Say 'No' to 15 years of Oil Drilling in the Lincs Wolds AONB

We ask Lincolnshire County Council to refuse permission for Egdon Resources to explore, test and carry out oil production near our chalk-stream at Biscathorpe in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Why is this important?

I have been lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Lincolnshire Wolds and it is a privilege I do not take for granted. Like my friends & neighbours, I believe it is our duty to protect this precious landscape, its waterways, wildlife and character. We have come together to form a small environmental group, and like many others across the world we are striving to protect the planet, piece by piece.

Egdon Resources have applied for permission for exploration and 15 years of oil production in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) close to one of the world’s rare chalk streams. This will bring pollution in many forms (noise, light, traffic, air) to the local area; and the oil & gas extracted will prevent us realising global commitments to keep the planet to 1.5 degrees of warming, necessary to avoid climate catastrophe.

This industrialisation of our countryside flies in the face of commitments to protect our environment and the future of younger generations.

Development in AONBs should only be allowed in 'exceptional circumstances'. If the Committee are to consider 'exceptional circumstances', then we urge them to consider the climate & ecological emergency.

It is NOT sustainable development and we are calling on Lincolnshire County Council to refuse permission when it comes before their Planning Committee.

By signing this petition you tell Lincs Co Council that you object to the development outlined in planning application PL/0037/21, and urge them to refuse permission.

How it will be delivered

Anyone can sign our petition, but please also tick our checkbox if you live, work or study in Lincolnshire. Thank you.
