Stop The Welfare Reform Death Scandal!

Stop The Welfare Reform Death Scandal!

The flawed Work Capability Assessment is causing 32 unnecessary deaths a week by forcing the long term sick and disabled into work or work-related activity. It is also causing untold misery and fear for the country's most vulnerable. We call for its cessation now and to be replaced by a more holistic and humane system.

Why is this important?

We want justice for all those who've died as a result of harsh Welfare Reforms and who are listed on Calum's List and Peter's List, each with their own heart-breaking story. Human beings who had disabling and life-threatening conditions and had to live their last days or weeks in fear and harassment of having their entitlements withdrawn. Yes, entitlements, because every human being in a civilized society is entitled to financial security and having their needs met.

Reasons for signing

  • that was close to being me on several occasions, dwp finally paid me the over three years to make a decision, when it came to appealing I had no hope left. I applied for esa as the lady I had been a carer for died suddenly, I couldn't find enough extra work to pay the bills, NEVER AGAIN. i want all in power held personally responsible (not with a fine) R.I.P. everyone who has been murdered by this government R.I.P. GRENFELL VICTIMS.
  • I was on esa for my bipolar, I attended a medical and examiner concluded I was fit for work. This then resulted in me having an episode. I am now homeless, sofa surfing. And I wanted to take my own life. I still had to sign on with a sicknote. Which made my symptoms worse. I am now awaiting a date for a tribunal.
  • I need help too, but any list of those who died will only get longer and longer if nothing is done. I have a responsibility to care for others as a fellow human being. This has to stop.
