• Better mental health provision in the UK
I lost my husband to mental health just before Christmas. This has ripped apart and devastated our family. As a family we were failed. We were given very little support and information. Basically left to cope on our own. More needs to be done. Mental illness can be a killer like cancer and heart disease but it has a very low profile and funding. This needs to change and it needs to change NOW! More and more people are suffering. Mental health wards are full yet run on minimal staff. Patient care is lacking and community follow up is so stretched that the support just isn't there. We need to change this for now and future generations. As a nation we need to do something. Stand together and fight for more help. Everyone knows someone affected. Please sign and support me in this campaign so we can hopefully change the lives of those suffering. Its what my husband would want us to do...he wasn't happy with the care he had.

  • Taxes for Life not Death
To refuse us this right is to force us to compromise our own beliefs. The elected government should not have the right to force individuals to contribute towards actions that will inevitably lead to the deaths of others, especially when a proportion of those deaths, however small you may personally believe them to be, are likely to include innocents

  • Refugees welcome in Orkney
I want to help ease the suffering of these desperate people. We must stand up and show our solidarity, welcome these people into our country and stop turning our backs on them. How many more children like Aylan and his brother have to die before we do something. The time to act is now, please open our doors and let them in.

  • Stop Ikea Abusing Job Seekers
This may be the tip of the iceberg. Who knows how many companies are entering into this practice or will in the future. This also undermines the concept of a minimum wage

  • End rule by minorities
40% of people did not vote in the last election as they felt their views were not represented or the current system meant their vote was meaningless. The Government was elected by less than 39% of those who voted. The Government received the votes of less than 20% of those entitled to vote. No Party could claim a Legitimate right rule the country after the last election. First past the post works well in a 2 party system, but that has ended.

  • No UK EU Budget contribution surcharge
It is further evidence of how Brussels is taking more and more control of our nation's finances. We are not in the Eurozone and we are not here to bail out continually failing countries who often do not even bother to collect taxes from their own citizens. It is not only another slap in the face to the British tax-payer in general but particularly to all the public sector workers who's enforced pay freeze has helped to boost our own economy. Enough is enough! If the EU don't like it - we should leave.

  • None of the Above
Because it would force every person in public office in the country to REALLY listen to the constituents and REALLY strive to serve. I vote, and always have done since turning 18, because I believe that it is our civic duty and that if one doesn't vote one can't complain. However, more and more one sees politicians full of fine words and no action, who do not listen and who follow their own agendas, and who punish the poor and benefit themselves and the nation's rich. Spoiling a ballot paper is not an option as it is not registered as a protest, and a protest vote for a 'loony' party such as ukip is clearly not sensible, so "None of the above" would send a clear message that we are not happy with the status quo and force change. Thank you.

  • RBS to return bonus payments and suspend until they make a profit
A bonus implies a job has been done well. It should not be an automatic right just because it been that way in the past.

  • Co-operate with the Co-op
The Co-op, in all its dealings endeavours to be fair, and is a breath of fresh air when compared to the big banks and businesses. We will regret it if this long standing institution is allowed to fall now, when help could be given to save it.

  • Citizens' "No Confidence in Government" Motion
This is important because the Coalition Government does not have, indeed has never had, the support of, or mandate from, a majority of the electorate for the policies it is pursuing, Moreover, by its actions and omissions it has become very unpopular with the electorate, to the extent that they now hold it in contempt for its uncaring, unjust and cynical policies, its waste or stripping of national assets, and its undue influence by and preferences for the private sector, instead of serving and safeguarding the public interest, its paramount responsibility.
