To improve the well-being of students, prepare them for self-responsibility and to know how to help other people in need.

Each year we support 500 Edinburgh families and we are parents ourselves. We support any family that needs our service - this includes many parents of children with complex needs, life-limiting conditions, or children on the Paediatric High Dependency Unit in hospital. We are a great service saving the tax-payer hundreds of thousands each year by providing early intervention. CARE have worked very hard to improve Raigmore Estate with 2 parks and a skatepark already installed, the addition of this bunker and exterior space would greatly improve what we can offer. The Civil Defence and Emergency Service Preservation Trust have transformed a bunker in Dundee and will do the same with this one. This facility will be available for tours and bookings and will be restored to its functional state. In addition CARE plan to run a community cafe, to rent workspace to locals, meeting space for groups and an outdoor area for events. All profits will go back into the community. We would greatly appreciate your support to make this happen.

Libraries are important to all age groups in the County. They a focal points for local communities and in the modern era provide a large range of essential services. These include the loan of books, careers advice, IT training, Newspaper Reading Rooms, Group Activities for Young parents and children, Access to Computers and photocopiers, archives for researchers, local information. Libraries are important hubs in local communities providing information on local services, activities and groups. Closing local libraries will isolate communities and individuals, especially the elderly and disabled.

The libraries are very good for studying and a quiet place to read, but Northamptonshire council are thinking of closing up to 28 of our 36 Libraries in order to save money. Three options have been put forward: two would shut the doors of 21 libraries; the third would close 28. We think that ALL of the libraries should be saved.

The 42 and 42a bus is an important link for residents in Minster and Cliffsend. It links communities where some don't have access to private transport and connects to local schools, doctors' surgeries, shopping areas and village communities. It reduces car use, reduces airborne pollution, saves on parking charges and keeps communities together.

These bus services are a lifeline to our communities. If these essential services are scrapped, it will have a devastating affect on vulnerable people, the elderly and children amongst others. It will also be highly detrimental to community well-being, along with the local economies in a wide range of areas across Kent. Kent County Council must guarantee its residents the continuation of all of these vital transport services for the health and prosperity of the residents that currently use them, along with growing numbers that will use them in the future.

Support staff are an integral #partofLSE, and yet receive cuts to their pay in real terms year on year. Coupled with soaring childcare, transport, and living costs and a housing crisis in London that forces them to move further and further away from LSE, they are struggling to make ends meet. In Spring 2017 UNISON, Unite and UCU conducted a survey into the effects of pay stagnation on LSE support staff: 80% feel their work is not valued and 86% are not happy with their pay. The cost of living has risen by 11.9% over the last five years, and pay has risen by just 6.25%, steadily devaluing pay over time. Someone earning £25k is on average £4k worse off due to pay awards falling behind rates of inflation. While support staff receive annual pay cuts, Senior Management pay has soared. The Director's remuneration package has increased by 71% in ten years. The total number of ‘high earners’ – those earning over £100,000, has increased by 890% in ten years. Staff costs for high earners have risen from £2.3 million in 2005-6 to £30.7 million in 2015-6, representing a 1229% increase. LSE is in a strong financial position as detailed in its Annual Returns. It is investing substantially in its estate, and its current focus on the student experience asks more from support staff while their pay continues to devalue. In October 2017 the Unions submitted a reasonable and affordable claim for an uplift to pay for Professional Service Staff at LSE. We call on LSE management to meet this claim. Because unqualified staff are being used more and more in schools in England and Wales. Every class should always have a fully qualified teacher in it. Schools are increasingly using unqualified staff to cover lessons of absent teachers, sometimes for weeks at a time. Supply teachers losing 40-60% of their daily pay and their pension is forcing them out of the profession. Teacher retention and recruitment is at crisis level in England and Wales. The taxpayer and most importantly our children are being shortchanged. Public money is going to private profit. Education is not a business, it is our children's birthright. England and Wales are slipping down the OECD rankings every year.

While teen pregnancy is on the decrease in the UK, we still have the highest rate in Western Europe. Teen pregnancy rates here are 5 times higher than in the Netherlands and around twice the EU average. We believe that this difference is down to a reluctance to talk about the realities of sex in the UK.
