The fact is that public transport and buses in particular are our only route to a low carbon future. We need to start thinking about transport like we do about health and education: we have a right to enjoy car free transport and we need more not less buses on this popular route. The Tories privatised our bus network years ago but services are cut back all the time as their priority is to make as much money as possible for their shareholders rather than provide a decent service for us passengers. If you want an ethical system in place for the Tyne Tunnel and wish to ensure penalty charges are not being used to harm ordinary working class individuals and families then get on board. The change in how the Tyne Tunnel operates has caused chaos for road users with many being stung with fines that they did not deserve. This entire system needs to be reviewed and it is the TT2 Limited company that is responsible for deciding it's penalty charge policies.

Our local leaders need to know that this can not keep happening and that more needs to be done. They will only act on things if enough of us feel the same way. So please if your sick of waking up to the news of young local people tragically killing themselves get this signed. Its a matter of time before this issue effects you personally if it already hasn't.

There are very few places left in Newark where wildlife can be experienced in such abundance, making the lake an intimate and life-changing place for adults and children who visit. Our birdlife is in serious decline too. - Populations of UK native birds are 11% lower than they were in 1970. - Balderton Lake is an important site for Kingfishers. These small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds fish from riverside perches. They are listed as a Schedule 1 species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, meaning no activity which could disturb them between March-August is allowed. - Due to populations severely declining in Britain or because they are considered under threat of global extinction, the red list of Britain’s most endangered birds has recently increased to 70 species. - Iconic birds to Balderton Lake including swift, housemartins, starling, mistle thrush, house and tree sparrows are on the 'Birds of Conservation Concern' red list. - Birds on the amber list including greylag goose, mallard, woodpigeon, sparrowhawk, wren and song thrush have all been recorded feeding, nesting, residing on and visiting Balderton Lake. Further concerns we have on YMCA using the lake for leisure activities - Habitat will be destroyed and removed to provide the infrastructure and access to the water at peg 16, including storage facilities. - To access peg 16, people will have to carry boats across a busy Sustrans cycle route – posing a significant hazard to users and cyclists. - Water sports will have a detrimental effect on the habitat and wildlife using the site. - Water sports will create noise pollution and water disturbance to residents and visitors of the current tranquil site. - The quality of the water is not safe enough for canoeists due to high levels of excretion from the waterfowl, fish and small mammals that live in and on the banks of the lake. Help fight against discrimination and equal rights for Fertility Equality for Same-Sex/ LGBTQ+ couples in the UK with fertility. NHS England forces many LGBTQ+ couples and single women to pay £10,000 to £30,000+ in artificial inseminations in expensive private clinics to ‘prove infertility’, before they qualify for help. Other members of the LGBTQ+ community also face even higher costs while trying to start their families. However most heterosexual couples qualify after two years of unprotected sex, which albeit a long time, holds no additional financial cost. This is discrimination. In order to quality for IVF, the majority of CCG’s (Clinical Commissioning Groups) in England require LGBTQ+ couples and single women to undergo 6 failed rounds of self-funded IUI. Home insemination does not count in the eligibility for Same-Sex couples. Plus, there has been a ban on sperm from sperm banks being shipped to homes since 2005. This forces LGBTQ+ people to use private clinics if they want to access safe, medically-screened sperm, or risk more dangerous routes, or give up on hopes and dreams of creating a family. The Government should review fertility treatment in England to ensure equality of access for LGBT+ and same-sex couples, and to make treatment consistent with Wales & Scotland. This review should investigate: - Whether sufficient support for home insemination is available - The application of NICE guidelines by CCGs - How the apparent ‘postcode lottery’ in fertility treatment can be ended..

Walnuts Leisure Centre is currently housed in a purpose-built two-level building, constructed in the early 1970s. It has stood the test of time and today it serves as a community hub, offering affordable services and amenities to children, adults and senior citizens. The new leisure centre that Areli (the developer) is offering will be smaller in terms of square footage, housed on a couple of floors in one of the towers. Yet Areli's proposed plans will bring 2000 new residents, which will add to the pressures on the membership capacity of the Leisure centre. We fear being priced out of our Leisure centre. Although Areli, keeps boasting about the proposed 25 metres competition size swimming pool, their plans clearly show lack of pool-side space, that makes the holding of such competitions very difficult. small pool is tiny unsuitable for lessons. If at the end of the day the decision to replace the Leisure centre is the one the Council opts for, the new leisure centre should be constructed before the current one is decommissioned. Furthermore, we need cast iron guarantees that the new leisure centre will be affordable and accessible by all residents who need it. Coeliac disease/gluten sensitivity is for life. It's hard enough having the condition without been deprived of much loved and missed products. Coeliac disease is on the rise. We need more education on it. Unless there is a cure in the future, there is no alternative currently but to stick to a gluten free diet for life. More products need to be made available and M&S has gone right downhill. We need to change others attitudes towards coeliac disease. Druids Heath and Monyhull Forum have been campaigning for Build First since September 2020 with their first successful event with residents demonstrating just how much space there is in Druids Heath that can be built on. As well as Druids Heath having lots of space where houses can be built, the technology is available to build those houses quickly that have low or no heat costs, saving residents the dilemma between eat or heat. Aquind must be stopped. This project erodes our democratic rights. It is no longer simply a planning issue and goes beyond the significant impact it will have on local communities. Aquind's planning application must be refused on the grounds of an unfeasible route through a densely populated island city with unique wildlife areas and green spaces ending in a National Park. The negative impact on traffic, residents and wildlife is too great. The people of Portsmouth, communities along the route, Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth’s Tory and Labour MPs unanimously oppose this project yet Aquind consistently dismisses these concerns. It is also unnecessary and surplus to the Government's own projected interconnection needs; by the time it is operational (in up to 7 years' time), it risks being redundant. The massive data cable it wants to lay alongside the high voltage cables falls outside the planning remit. There has been no proper scrutiny as to whether Aquind is an appropriate company for such a significant national infrastructure project. The Tory party has taken over £1.5 million in donations from Aquind-related sources. Nearly 1 in 10 Tory MPs took donations. The BBC Panorama and Guardian investigation into the Pandora Papers financial leak raised questions about the murky financial dealings of Aquind's owner, Viktor Fedotov – questions that the Tory party has not answered. The Business Secretary has even written letters of support to Aquind during the planning process. Any decision made can't possibly be impartial. Communities should not be cut off from decision-making by the cosy relationships business and ministers create with their political donations from opaque offshore companies, revolving doors and contracts for mates.

What is the Nationality and Borders Bill? On Wednesday 8th December, Government MP's including Philip Hollobone, Tom Pursglove and Peter Bone voted for the Nationality & Borders Bill. It has been described as an attack on refugee rights and criticised for breaching international law. The bill includes unlawful policy changes meaning that: - UK residents could have citizenship stripped without notification. - Asylum Seekers could be sent to offshore 'processing centres'. - People rescuing refugees could be prosecuted. - Refugees not entering the country by a 'safe and legal route' would punished and ignored. Why should we vote against it? Despite ministers claims that the Bill will help to save lives; it will do the exact opposite. The Bill fails to offer a safer route to the UK, putting refugees at further risk of exploitation by smugglers and traffickers. Why should we do more? Our government and the media give the impression that the UK are doing more than enough to help people fleeing war and persecution. But that is not the case. To put into context: - At the end of 2020 around 82.4 million people were forcibly displaced across the world. - Of these, 26.4 million were refugees. - Half of the world’s refugees are children. - 85% of refugees are being hosted in developing countries. The UK is home to approx 1% of 26.4 million refugees around the world, and significantly falls far behind our European neighbours when it comes to granting asylum (in terms of the number of asylum applications per head of population, the UK ranks 17th highest in Europe). In addition, it is our moral and legal obligation to uphold the 1951 Geneva Refugee Convention - an agreement that the UK played a central role in drafting. We should be proud of our tradition of protecting refugees but given the scale of the global refugee crisis facing the world, we can and should be doing much more to help. How can I make a difference? We are calling on people of North Northamptonshire to sign this petition, and demand that our local Members of Parliament hear our voice and speak out against the Nationality and Borders Bill. North Northamptonshire is a beautifully diverse and culture rich place, and we are proud to embrace and accept refugees with open arms.

In the lea of the Lincolnshire Wolds, down a single-track lane, lies a tranquil haven. Deer, owls, bats, lapwings, skylarks and countless other wildlife depend on this rural habitat. Wide grassy verges are mini eco-systems brimming with native flowers and insects; it is an area rich in bio-diversity, enjoyed by countless tourists, cyclists, walkers and riders. Drilling for oil in this location is proposed by Egdon Resources. This industrialisation of our countryside will bring pollution in the form of noise, air, light and traffic to nearby residents and villages. It will adversely affect the well-being and safety of local people. Our country roads are not safe thoroughfare for numerous HGVs and other site traffic. If Egdon discover oil, the damaging exploitation may continue for up to 20 years, flying in the face of our international commitments to limit global warming. Despite initially being granted permission in 2014, and notwithstanding numerous time extensions, Egdon have not yet commenced work on the site. A dark cloud of uncertainty has already hung over local residents for seven years. This is unfair and unreasonable. It should not be allowed to continue. A group of local people keen to protect our community and our environment have come together. Through our collective conscience, and fully recognising our responsibilities to future generations, we oppose this development. The COP 26 summit drew global attention to the climate & ecological emergency. Lincolnshire County Council seeks to ‘lead the way’ through the implementation of its Green Masterplan which aims to, “find innovative solutions to global climate issues”. In this context, a proposal to embark on new fossil fuel exploration in our countryside is unfathomable. “Sustainable development” is defined as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Exploration for new fossil fuels does not fulfil that criteria; it brings immediate local harm and represents future global devastation.
