Boycott year 6 SATS and call for teachers to strike. We want our kids to be kids again and enjoy learning for learning's sake not for Ofsted results or league table figures. Bring back the creativity and the fun - say goodbye to repetition and boredom! Between 9th to 13th May, children in Year 6 in England and Wales sit a whole week's worth of exams. They are lied to and told these will affect their whole life's careers which is simply untrue, Teachers are forced to put children under stress purely for league tables sakes. All year their curriculum has been centred around comprehension and arithmetic in order to pass these tests. Outdoor learning has decreased, childhood anxiety has increased, games have been replaced with grammar, playing with punctuation. Parents all over the country are joining forces on 3rd May for a day of fun learning out of school to show support for a SATs boycott and a return to teacher led assessments which value individuality and creativity in the school setting.2,100 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Lucy Spencer

Don't force Denton primary school to become an academy. No two schools are alike. But the government doesn't seem to agree. It wants to rush through plans to force every single school in England to become an academy the type of school paid for by taxpayers, but run by businesses, sponsors or trusts. Many teachers and parents are already standing against the plans, saying that they're "a step towards privatisation", ignore local views, and could force some schools to close. One size does not fit all, and local parents and teachers should have a say in the future of our school. ------ If this isn't your local school, click here to sign your local petition, or start one if no-one else has yet: https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/start-a-campaign-for-your-school189 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Khalid Razzaq

Save High Care Domiciliary Care in Andover from closureThis valuable service in Andover since being taken over by Brighterkind has been left to run down and set up to fail. The only reason for closure is domiciliary care is not part of Brighterkind's portfolio although financially it breaks even. High Care have provided excellent service over a number of years and has won awards in the area for outstanding service. The service carries out government policy, providing care in the home and is the only domiciliary service that carries out palliative care.....the residents of Andover cannot afford to loose this valuable provision.116 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jeanette Smith

Not all disabilities fit into one groupGetting out to enjoy concerts is something that I enjoy. Sadly, Glasgow's SSE Hydro's inflexible approach, unlike other venues in Glasgow like the King's Theatre, means people with visual impairments are unable to book seats close to the stage and still get a carer's discount. Instead, the venue has a designated disability area which is too far away for me to see anything. Disability comes in different forms and venues have taken care to provide services to help people's enjoyment. There are induction hoops for those with hearing issues and the venue has wheelchair accessibility. It's time to bring in some flexibility and allow those with visual impairments the right to enjoy the great shows that appear here.158 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Laura Brown

Ban Face and Head Punching in Junior Boxing. After the recent boxing match between Chris Eubank Jr. and Nick Blackwell which resulted in Nick Blackwell's injury and induced coma I feel it is now time to look at consequences of this "Sport" but mainly in the involvement of junior boxing. My grandson age 8 attends a local boxing club which I am totally against but he and his parents do not feel the same way. They feel it gives him confidence and teaches the children discipline, I am aware the training is beneficial to them in certain ways but I also know first hand how the boys and girls can easily get hurt. On the one occasion I took my Grandson to the club I was only there for an hour and in that time two children received badly bloody noses, one child was crying in pain from a punch to the face and my Grandson was also nearly in tears from a hit to the face which resulted in a very bad bruise the next day. Although the children do wear head helmets and mouth guards these do not stop the punches to the face and head. The children are still growing and developing and I feel the damage they can receive to the face and head (even with helmets worn) could result in serious injuries and health problems. I do realize anyone can get injured in any sport but in other sports it is usually accidental injuries that occur, and it is not accidental in boxing.. Would you please make it compulsory that all junior boxing clubs have set rules whereby NO PUNCHES ARE ALLOWED TO BE AIMED AT THE FACE AND HEAD, whether it be whilst training or in a match. Many thanks, Elaine Brown I fear a child could be badly injured.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elaine Brown

We Support Teachers to Boycott SATsWe began as a group of Year 2 parents who had had enough... enough of endless testing, enough of teachers not being trusted to teach, enough of an Ofsted driven, dull, dry curriculum aimed solely at passing National Curriculum Tests (SATs). We want our kids to be kids again and enjoy learning for learning's sake not for Ofsted results or league table figures. Bring back the creativity and the fun - say goodbye to repetition and boredom! In May, children in Year 2 and Year 6 sit a whole week's worth of exams... All year their curriculum has been focussed on passing these tests. Outdoor learning has decreased, childhood anxiety has increased, games have been replaced with grammar, playing with punctuation. Parents all over the country are joining forces to show support for a SATS boycott and a return to teacher led assessments which value individuality and creativity in the school setting. The assessment system in 2016 was described as a 'car crash'. Since then we have seen two Education Select Committees deliver damning verdicts on SATs and their effects and we have heard from numerous surveys of teachers and headteachers that they think that SATs are damaging to children, teachers and schools - both primary and secondary. We have also seen the creation of More Than A Score - a campaign group made up of parents, teachers, early years specialists and mental health professionals - all of whom are saying together that SATs must go! Many parents around the country are now planning their own boycotts of SATs with their children - and many more are speaking out against SATs, joined by increasing numbers of teachers. We would love ALL teachers to join us in this campaign and to openly speak out against SATs and to boycott them. Work Smarter No Longer Hours - Improve ProductivityThe culture in the UK is for employees to work longer and longer hours, yet productivity in the UK is the lowest in the G7 countries. France, with similar population number and territory size, has a higher productivity per capita and yet employees work far less hours. It has been shown that a tired work force is less efficient and more costly, as it has more days off work. It impact on the NHS as a stressed workforce is more prone to illness and injuries. We want a law that reduce the costs to the British tax payer associated with overworking. A law which addresses the current work/social life imbalance. I am treating far too many people affected by stress due to long hours at work often forced, by a bullying culture, to 'socialise' with coworkers after work to show they are 'one of the team'.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Giuseppe Tomaselli

Get 'winningest' out of the dictionary!Because our language is the building blocks of our whole society. Words brought us out of the dredges of despair and enlightened our lives. This so called piece of lexical defecate needs to be stamped out.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ashley Hughes

Pesticide Free HackneyThere is growing evidence chemicals (such as glyphosate ) used for pest and weed control in Hackney are damaging to human health, in particular children. Our kids need to be able to play safely in Hackney parks - face down in the ground - without fear of exposure to glyphosate and other toxic nasties. Likewise shoppers, sunbathers, exercises, dog walkers, BBQ-ers, yogis - whoever and whatever you get up to in Hackney's wonderful streets and green spaces - should be able to do so without fear of being squirted by the weed control truck. I've been sprayed by it twice as it merrily made it's way up Dalston Lane. Once while heavily pregnant. Glyphosate alone is linked to cancers, birth defects, infertility, autism and parkinson disease. The World Health Organisation has publicly stated glyphosate 'probably' causes cancer. Progressive cities such as Paris, Toronto and recently Brighton, have already voted to end the use of toxic chemicals, such as glyphosate, in all public space. If they can do it, so can Hackney! Alternative means of controlling weeds already exist. Products that are non-harmful to human health and the environment are available. Why risk the health of our children - and ourselves - when there is another way? PS: Get informed!
