• Free internet access in every household in Scotland
The potential is huge, it needs to be like the NHS, free at the point of delivery, paid for by the taxes raised in Scotland, the effect would be like turbo charging the whole of Scotlands activities, and would repay the costs many times over., Given it's intended universality, it could decimate government comms costs and underpin the integrity of news services, and even better would work best as a completely un metered service without any admin overhead but the techies and the hardware, no need to bill anybody, we'd all be paying through the tax and spending mechanism, without the expense of billing and collecting it separately, which would also make faster and easier to install, no confusion over who or where, just everywhere, now. It could even be done largely by local people with a little extra training, and tested, configured etc. , from a small number of hubs, keeping the costs closely controlled. How would it work :- Rather in the way that wi-fi works now, as an open network infrastructure, through which you can access services like email, web addresses etc., paying tax is only the general revenue source which pays for the network structure as a facility of the government services open to anybody who is in Scotland. A large part of the costs of running the present networks is caused by the need to generate millions of bills and collect the due payment, and protect those parts of the service providers facilities for which premiums are charged. With an open network, none of that is needed for basic access, and the network can be available throughout the country, islands included. In addition to personal access for the whole population, the commercial service providers could deliver a bigger range of product than possible at present, collecting payment in the pay-per-use manner identified by the MAC address of the device in use, in practice, much simpler and almost cost free. This would deliver a huge boost to the development of new business, social and government activities throughout Scotland for an almost risibly small cost. The health and emergency services would also benefit and be able to extend their coverage and reach virtually for free, allowing things like remote consultations for residents in isolated communities, new businesses could start anywhere and be in the worlds main markets at no cost beyond their own direct costs. it really needs only political support, the technical bit is really straightforward, get the boss's husband on board, I hear he's a well switched on fella, it would be a huge benefit to post-independence business development for both governance and commerce, and would be like switching on the lights for the populace who've been kept in the dark by the MSM.

  • Allow microchipping of goats for kinder identification
Goats are very smart and social creatures most are kept as pets and aside from having to tag young kids with small ears and stressing them out these tags are getting caught and are being ripped from the ear. This is very painful and stressful for the animal and leaves a very nasty open wound which can cost a lot in vets fees to have the animal returned to health and avoiding secondary infection. Goats can be microchipped under their tail this is a one off injection no worse than them receiving their vaccinations. This can't be removed and the animal will be identifiable for life there is zero chance of them getting it caught and ripped out. So for all those who want to see a change and help keep our 4 legged goat friends free from pain and suffering please sign and share this petition !

  • Support for the young service users of Kids Company.
Kids Company provided an invaluable service to vulnerable young people which should of been fully supported by our government. These young service users have now been left by the wayside and its important that they get the support that they need.

  • Save Brimhay's Woodland Home to Endangered Bats and Dormice
These are highly endangered species and are protected by laws. This wooded valley is a beautiful area and highly valued my hundreds of people in Dartington. It needs protection, not destroying. An alternative community led proposal for housing is available, so destroying the wooded habitat is only for greed not need.

  • Save our open public spaces - Lambeth Council
Lambeth Council has given notice to dispose of public open space given to them by the Greater London Council in the 1980s. This land has been leased to Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB) with the specific condition that it will remain free public open space for everybody to enjoy without long term commercial development. However the Garden Bridge Trust (GBT) needs this land in order to build a commercial building and CSCB wish to change the terms of their lease to allow this to happen. This completely goes against the core principles of community values fought for - by CSCB. We must not let our open public GREEN space be taken over by private developers. The Thames is London's largest area of central open space, its largest nature conservation area, and its greatest natural feature. Its openness is under threat as there are plans to put a Garden Bridge in the busiest tourist part of London, from Temple Tube Station to the South Bank, at a cost of £175 million. At least £60 million of this will be public money which is utterly iniquitous in these times of great austerity!

  • Free medical care for apprentices
The government are currently bringing in more companies and small businesses to run apprenticeships within the work place. However once you have an apprenticeship you are not entitled to the same privileges to someone the same age without an apprenticeship if you want a prescription or dental care. Currently someone on an apprenticeship's minimum wage you earn £2.73 an hour, so if you need to get a prescription at a cost of £8.20 then this is roughly 3 hours work just to pay for it! I say we as apprentices should be allowed to have free prescriptions and free dental care.

  • STOP THE CRUELTY OF EAR TAGGING GOATS!
Have you ever tried to tell a four month old goat kid who is screaming in pain that you are trying to help her when it was you who caused that pain in the first place? I am talking about the goatkeeper's curse of the EAR TAG. Something, under EU and UK rules that I am legally bound to do regardless of the consequences. Tagging is supposed to be a 'permanent' and 'non tamper proof' method of identifying all farm animals. However, this form of ID often results in ripped, infected, and damaged ears putting the animal concerned through extreme pain and stress not to mention the veterinary costs that follow. Some ears are so badly torn from repeated attempts at tagging that there just isn't any flesh left to put a tag into. There are lots of photos to show the severe damage that ear tags cause and it's about time ear tagging was stopped and a better, far more humane method was found. If we tagged our dogs we would be prosecuted but because a goat is a 'farm' animal (many are kept simply as pets) it's okay to inflict suffering upon them. This is a welfare issue and totally contravenes one of the five freedoms (freedom from pain) that are listed in the Animal Welfare Act. Goats are not sheep. As highly intelligent animals they like to pull their neighbour's ear tags or chew them. Goats also get them caught in fencing, hay racks, bushes, even between their hooves when scratching an ear with dire consequences. Pre tagging, goatkeepers used tattoing as a PERMANENT form of identification. Tattoing is a one off job and can't be tampered with or removed, unlike tags. Tattoing is acceptable. Recently, there have been trials for pastern tags (straps that fit around the goat's hind leg). Pastern tags are acceptable. Microchipping (done the same way as for equines) is acceptable. These three methods would stop the amount of suffering that a lot of goats are going through. My little Jem is on the road to recovery now but just how many more will go through this trauma time and time again? Please sign the petition and lets end the use of ear tags on goats for once and for all!

  • Salford Against Cuts Are Asking The Council To Restore Transport For Adults With Disabilities
There are many adults that are unable to get to their day centres, even though we were told that families were happy with their own arrangements, to a lot of us this is so untrue. We have lost a lot of free time to do jobs and for a bit of time to relax which our transport made that possible, so we are asking now that two of our families have been given their transport back which we are all so thank full for but would like to bring to light that the transport that has been given is taxis and escort, this is great but what happens when our next families get their transport back how much will this cost when surely common sense tells us all it would be much less cost to provide a coach and escort that would accommodate most. Please would you sign and share this petition and share it with family and friends regards Noreen Bailey

  • Unilever - clean up your mess!
Unilever exposed their workers and thousand other to harmful mercury pollution at their Kodaikanal thermometer assembly plant in India. The factory operators did not give its workers any protective equipment or information about the disastrous impact that mercury has on health. The factory owned by Hindustan Unilever also dumped toxic mercury around their plant, and this has not been cleaned up in the 14 years since this plant was shut down. The contamination continues to impact forests and groundwater. The workers cannot afford private healthcare. They have been fighting for Unilever to clean up the toxic contamination and compensate them for their medical expenses as a result of mercury for many long years. They need us to stand with them now, more than ever. Paul Polman, Unilever’s CEO, prides himself in heading a company that he says is accountable to its workers, and to the environment. Let’s ask him to put his words into practice by asking him to clean up his company’s toxic mess and to compensate the workers who have lost their health and in some cases, their children, to Unilever’s unethical practices. As the global CEO, he has the power and resources to either take unilateral action or pressure Hindustan Unilever – a Unilever subsidy – to take immediate action itself. Sign the petition.
