• Include Greens in 2015GE Leaders Debates
The long-standing and ongoing exclusion of the Green Party from the national discourse has not stopped it being the only national party that's still growing, other than UKIP. This demonstrates it is striking a chord with many voters, and is being held back only by the lack of fair coverage. Democracy and balance can only be enhanced by including the party in political discourse at all levels.

  • Fight Edinburgh Allotments Rent Rise
It's unfair and contrary to Allotment legislation. It breaches an agreement that governs prices in Edinburgh. It will make allotments unaffordable. It is prejudicial against the poor, disabled and elderly. It would make Edinburgh allotments the most expensive in the UK. It is contrary to healthy living policies of Council and Government.

  • Give airtime to all political parties who have 1 or more seat at Westminster
As we approach one of the most crucial elections in our history, at a time when our country is changing in very many ways, it is crucial that ALL democratically-elected voices are listened to. It demeans the intelligence and commitment of the voters of the UK to restrict access to political views, and to the very many good people who have chosen to give their lives to creating change for the better in our country.

  • Back Clive Efford MP's Bill to save our N.H.S.
On November 21, MPs will vote on a Private Member’s Bill aimed at halting the spread of privatisation across the NHS. Clive Efford’s Bill would scrap the worst parts of the Government’s Health and Social Care Act of 2012. The 2012 Act unleashed privatisation by imposing competition law on the NHS and exposing services to bids from private companies. Clive Efford’s Bill would rein in privatisation by • Removing competition requirements and regulations • Preventing the NHS watchdog Monitor acting as a competition enforcer • Restoring the Secretary of State’s duty to provide National Health Services • Shrinking what NHS hospitals are allowed to earn from private patients – currently up to half their total income! This petition has been launched by Stockport NHS Watch. We will deliver it to all four of Stockport’s MPs and lobby them to stand up for the NHS on November 21. We cannot stand and watch the NHS being stolen from us!

  • Privatisation of Eurostar
After the debacle of Rail privatisation and the fall in the level of service witnessed over the last decade on our railways, the last thing we need is a purely profit driven ownership of Eurostar looking merely at the short term in order to provide a return at any cost to their investors. This privatisation is purely ideologically driven and takes no consideration of the needs - short or long term - of Eurostar or, especially, it's users. The Governments of France and Belgium are considering increasing their share of the ownership of Eurostar (at British tax-payers expense as the profits will all go to alleviate the tax burden of other countries) whilst ours is so driven by an ideological distaste for any nationally owned service that they will press ahead with privatisation at any cost and regardless of the value of that privatisation to the current owners of the service - you! It must further be asked, can we trust a civil service which oversaw the huge loss to taxpayers through the undervaluation and mismanagement of The Royal Mail and RBS (where even according to the Telegraph taxpayers faced a loss of £1bn and £10bn respectively)? Please show Mr Osbourne and the Treasury your dislike of this half-baked plan to rush through privatisation before the next election.

  • Home Rule for Scotland
On the 18th of September 2014 almost 45% of the Scottish electorate voted for Scotland to become a fully independent country. 55% voted No having been assured that a No vote would result in ‘extensive new powers’ being transferred to the Scottish Parliament. We believe that this result constitutes a clear indication that an advanced form of self-government within the United Kingdom is required for Scotland. We refer to this proposal as Home Rule for Scotland. Home Rule means that some powers would continue to be shared across the UK. Shared powers would cover royal succession, foreign affairs, defence, a shared currency and free movement. But everything else, including the raising and spending of money, would be Scotland’s responsibility. Moreover, in recognition of the Sovereignty of the People of Scotland, constitutional arrangements as they pertain to Scotland, including EU membership and the role of the European Court of Human Rights in relation to Scotland, would be determined by the people of Scotland through referenda. This arrangement would be enshrined in a ‘Charter of Autonomy’, which would function as a written constitution for Scotland. Powers for the Scottish Parliament will include: • Full fiscal autonomy, including income tax, national insurance, corporation tax and VAT including the right to create and abolish taxes. • Full control of welfare policy and spending, including pensions and unemployment benefits including the right to introduce new benefits. • Employment and industrial relations. • Regulation of Trade and Industry. • Oil and Gas regulation and revenues. • Broadcast Media. • Transport. • Full Borrowing Powers. • Full control of the Crown Estate. • Energy. • Control of Elections and Voting arrangements. • Recognising the Sovereignty of the People of Scotland, constitutional arrangements as they pertain to Scotland, including EU membership, to be determined by the people of Scotland through a referendum.

  • Lets keep Castle Beach free from dogs over the summer months.
Please keep our beaches free from dogs during the summer months. It's not the dogs wanting this...it's the owners! It's not just about the dog mess that has been left behind(even within the last few days.) It's dogs running around, kicking up sand, arguments it's going to cause among people, adults getting annoyed with dog owners because the dogs are shaking over them, fouling in the rock pools, going for food....jumping up on their kids. I love dogs. I have one of my own. But I am 100% against this!

  • Re-Open Dock House
As winter draws nearer, temperatures will plummet making the rough sleepers of Hull even more vulnerable. A warm bed and a shower could could potentially save lives. Although there are other hostels in Hull, these do not provide enough beds to the rise in homelessness.

  • No New Arundel Bypass
Any route of a new road will be hugely damaging to the environment, cutting through farmland and ancient woodland, or damaging Binsted village and part of Walberton. This is countryside that has been labelled too precious to lose by previous government. The road will cause more pollution and it will also cause new congestion - it has been proved that new roads bring more traffic. We believe that local people would prefer the traffic problems here to be solved by other means which are achievable and would provide an acceptable compromise.

  • Stop parliamentary candidates being parachuted into constituencies
For MPs to be truly representative they must be true residents of that constituency. Currently career politicians of all parties are parachuted in to 'safe seats'. This leads to MPs with no understanding of their local constituency needs.

  • One chance to beat Ebola!
The Ebola outbreak is worsening by the day. So far close to 4 thousand people have died in West Africa and single victims of the disease have already appeared in US, Europe and Australia. The buildup of response from politicians and international community appears to be slow and painfully inadequate. The ideas like screening travelling public at airports is NOT GOING TO WORK! There is, however, experimental drug, which offers some hope of cure - ZMapp, unfortunately all available doses have already been used and manufacturing of new doses is slow and too low to make the difference to already affected areas. Surely, now is the time to put pressure on the Manufacturer to share the science with ALL capable pharmaceutical companies all over the world to take up the production immediately in parallel with each other. There are obviously questions of patents and protection of profits ect. but even at this stage the containment of this crisis is going to cost global community, potentially billions of dollars, so the financial solution can be found. The decision of this importance can only be taken at the highest levels of power and in conjunction with American partners, since the manufacturer is an American company. Please support this call to the UK PM, to take necessary steps to make this happen!
