    The government wants the young to get working but they do not want, I am not surprised they do not want to work for peanuts while someone who is over 25 will make double the wage of 16. The price of bread is not different for 16 year old person to what it is for 25 year old person, so I do not know why there is big wage gap.

  • Change Rules Of Sex Reassignment Surgery
    I'm a transgender myself and would love to have SRS straight away but the rules are preventing me for having my wish I feel extremely uncomfortable in my body and am scared of going out as people stare, I have noticed other people in the same position who would love to have the rules changed so they feel more comfortable and I think this would give us the freedom we always wanted and give us the correct body and allow us not to feel trapped.

  • Make maternity laws better in the UK
    Right now, one in ten women lose their job when they have a baby here in the UK. This isn't acceptable. Pregnant women and mothers now face more discrimination at work than they did a decade ago according to research from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). Here's what the Women and Equalities Committee recommended should become law: 1.The Government should publish a strong, specific communications plan for the awareness-raising and attitude-changing work it has agreed to undertake 2.Employers should have to do an individual risk assessment when they are informed that a woman who works for them is pregnant, has given birth in the past six months or is breastfeeding. 3.The right to paid time off for antenatal appointments should be extended to temporary and people on zero-hours contracts. All maternity rights should be reviewed to make them more equal regardless of the type of working contract you have. 4.The Government should increase protection from redundancy so that new and expectant mothers can be made redundant only in specified circumstances. (Paragraph 70) 5.The Government should review the three-month time limit for bringing a tribunal claim in maternity and pregnancy discrimination cases and should substantially reduce tribunal fees. 6.The Government should monitor access to free, good-quality, one-to-one advice on pregnancy and maternity discrimination issues and assess whether additional resources are required. Maternity rights should protect every woman in the UK. They should protect us from suffering discrimination in the workplace, due to pregnancy or maternity. They should make sure we aren’t passed over for promotion due to being on maternity leave, or that our employers block us from accruing any holiday whilst we’re off work. Let's make sure they our maternity laws are changed for the better, to protect all women.

  • Protect Workers' Rights From Brexit
    Workers' rights in this country have been hard-won, but Brexit now gives the Government the chance to strip workers in Britain of their protections and rights at work. We can't allow that to happen. The Workers' Rights (Maintenance of EU Standards) Bill seeks to ensure that there is a floor of workers' rights below which no contract or employer can sink. This applies to rights such as protecting workers from redundancy if their company changes hands, health and safety rules and measures to protect employee representatives against detrimental treatment for carrying out their role.   • Fair rail and bus scheme for carers
    Unpaid carers save the nation around £162 billion every year. They often have to decide between paying bills, eating, or getting the person they care for to crucial medical appointments, or visiting them in hospitals or hospices. They also have their own lives to balance around caring, for example travelling from school, college, university or work to the person they care for on a regular basis; or in the case of intermittent carers, such as university students, if an emergency arises and they have to take time off and travel long distances to help the person they care for. Public transport is an essential service that should be financially accessible to carers. Various regions of the country have railcard schemes that provide discounts based on where people live, but there is no national scheme for rail or bus that does not depend on age or disability. There are benefits available to some carers depending on their circumstances, but even when they are awarded, travels costs are so high that it still becomes a struggle. The Government is already looking at improving the rights of carers and services provided to them, so I believe this is the right time to fight for concessionary or even free travel for carers. Please join me in asking for a carers railcard and bus pass, that would be life-changing for thousands of people.     There are strong rumours that Forest of Dean bus routes could be seriously reduced or some routes axed in the autumn 2016. A public consultation took place in the summer but the results have not been made public. For many people, these buses are a lifeline: whether it's helping them get to work , or helping more vulnerable members of the community get out to community groups. The resulting cuts will affect the poorest and most vulnerable members of the community, isolating them even further with dire economic, educational, employment, and health implications.   • 72 hour No Fly Zone over Aleppo, Syria.
    To allow the safe passage of innocent men, women and children out of Aleppo, cease the slaughter of innocent civilians and medical staff and allow crucial supplies to these beleaguered people. There are over 60 million refugees globally, people displaced by war and under constant and brutal attack. In my trips to the Jungle in Calais ( France) I met and heard some of the harrowing stories of many innocent and decent people and marvelled at some incredible feats of bravery. All of these stories affected me deeply, especially those concerning the children - hundreds of unaccompanied minors. We all deserve the right to a safe home. The number of displaced and traumatised individuals worldwide is a disgrace and Aleppo is rapidly adding to an already unmanageable crisis. I like many millions of others, want this to stop.

  • Call for Resignation of Philip Davies MP
    Philip Davies, as the MP for Shipley you are responsible for representing the needs of thousands of women. As former residents of Shipley, we feel that you are unable to do this job due to your history of voting against equality legislation, making anti-feminist comments and attending conferences with known misogynists. We respectfully request that you resign from your position so that it can be taken by someone who values the interests of women and recognises the discrimination that they face on a daily basis. You recently attended the International Conference on Men's Issues, which was organised by the Justice for Men and Boys group (J4MB). This group campaigns against gender equality initiatives, including the Gender Equality Act 2010, and hands out sexist 'awards' such as "whiny feminist of the month". Although you claim that you do not support this group, by speaking at this conference you have publicly demonstrated that, at the very least, you do not oppose its values. In your speech, you expressed anti-feminist views by saying, “In this day and age the feminist zealots really do want women to have their cake and eat it”. This shows a hatred, or at least a misunderstanding, of the feminist movement and everything that it stands for. Feminism aims to attain equality between people of all genders, which you have actively worked to prevent by arguing against equality targets in the workplace and tabling a private member’s bill to repeal the Sex Discrimination Act 2002. We believe that these actions and comments show that you are against gender equality, and therefore unfit to represent the women who live and work in your constituency. You have stated that you “don’t believe there’s an issue between men and women. The problem is being stirred up by those who can be described as militant feminists and the politically correct males who pander to this nonsense." This is despite the wealth of data and research that shows that women are paid less than men and are less likely to be promoted to a senior management role but far more likely to be sexually harassed or assaulted at work. As you are unable or unwilling to acknowledge the existence of sexism in British society, we believe that you are consequently unable to defend and stand up for the women of your constituency. As an MP, you are required to act in the best interests of your constituents, but your misogynistic attitudes make you incapable of doing so. We therefore request that you remove yourself from parliament so that the people of Shipley can benefit from an MP who has all of their best interests at heart.

  • Stop Sussex Police from hooding children
    In February and March 2012 my 11 year old daughter, Sophie, was put in a ‘spit hood’ by Sussex Police officers on at least three occasions. Sophie has a rare neurological disability, similar to autism, that can cause her to act in ways that people find challenging. She can become very upset when she is over-stimulated and can sometimes spit out of frustration. I had never heard of a ‘spit hood’ until one was used on my daughter. It is a material bag that goes over someone’s head with a drawstring to tighten it. Sussex Police allows its officers to put spit hoods on anyone who is spitting, regardless of whether they are a hardened adult criminal or a terrified 11 year old disabled girl who isn’t in control of her actions. I cannot describe how traumatic it was for Sophie to be hooded by police officers. Due to her disability she finds it very upsetting to have someone even touch her head. Having strangers put a bag over her head when she was already extremely distressed was profoundly shocking for her and she still hasn’t fully recovered from the experience over four years later. In June 2016 the Independent Police Complaints Commission published its report into Sophie’s treatment by the police. It found that 11 police officers and one member of police staff had cases to answer for misconduct. However, the IPCC wasn’t able to criticise the repeated use of the spit hoods as this was authorised by Sussex Police policy. Obviously it is not a pleasant experience to be spat at; however, the risk to police officers needs to be balanced against the very real psychological and physical risks to children who are subjected to this shocking treatment. Several of the largest policy forces around the country, including West Midlands Police and Merseyside Police, do not authorise the use of spit hoods on anyone let alone on children. In 2009 a man died after he was placed in a spit hood and became unwell in a Peterborough police station. In the wake of national media coverage about Sophie’s case (http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/08/ipcc-criticises-sussex-police-treatment-11-year-old-disabled-girl) Sussex Police confirmed that it would not stop its officers from hooding children. I think this is wrong. The police do an important and difficult job, but I don’t think they should be allowed to treat children in an inhuman, degrading and dangerous way.   • No UK trade office in Raleigh, North Carolina
    The State of North Carolina recently enacted House Bill 2 known as HB2. The bill prevents local governments in North Carolina from passing anti-discrimination laws, undoing those already in place. It also permits business owners to discriminate against LGBT+ people on grounds of religious belief, and demands that individuals use the public bathroom corresponding to the sex on their birth certificate, endangering transgender people. This is clearly a huge injustice to the LGBT+ community of the State, but also to those visiting who are now at risk. In 2016 we expect to see nothing but progress when we see LGBT+ rights in the news. Sadly this is not always the case, as we were reminded earlier this year by the passing of this bill in the State of North Carolina. I was dismayed therefore to see that our new Secretary of State for International Trade, Dr Liam Fox MP, has announced plans to open a UK trade office in the state capital Raleigh. Liam Fox must not press ahead with plans to open this office not just as an act of solidarity, but to pressure the authorities of North Carolina to undo these awful laws and keep British people out of harm's way. In response to the enactment of HB2 a boycott of the state has ensued, with musicians pulling out of gigs and businesses withdrawing investment. If the Department for International Trade opens a new UK trade office in Raleigh then this boycott will be undermined. Furthermore the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued a warning to LGBT+ travelers to the State of North Carolina. Brits working at the new office may be put at risk because of HB2. This is unacceptable.
