East Street's pavements are too narrow to allow for social distancing, especially with queuing systems operating to be able to enter many shops and banks. We do not want to see a rise in coronavirus cases again in Taunton Deane that crowded pavements would likely cause. The shops have also benefited from an increase in footfall since reopening and really need that to be maintained in order to recover from the terrible year they had last year. East Street without cars has created a pleasant and safe environment for all, including those people with mobility issues who previously struggled to negotiate the parked cars and dense traffic. SWT’s consultation on the project received approximately 2000 responses, with a significant majority in support. There are also wider environmental concerns. We all know that we are in a climate crisis, one of the best recommended actions we can do as individuals is to walk, cycle or take the bus more and leave the car at home. We would appeal to people to consider these options, and many others, if at all possible in order to reduce the traffic going through the centre of Taunton. This would have huge benefits for the residents of both roads affected as traffic pollution is known to cause asthma and cancers, whereas cycling and walking have great benefits to our own health. In addition, increasing road space available to traffic will only increase the traffic using it - many studies show that traffic simply increases to fill the space available to it. Conversely traffic will reduce when roads are closed, so we would expect traffic to gradually ease over the next week or two as people get used to the new restrictions and find other ways of completing their journeys. Increasing road space now, is simply increasing the amount of traffic able to use the road, which will increase pollution and greenhouse gas emissions now and for the future. Boston Manor Park in West London was recently fortunate enough to receive £3.6m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery Community Fund to improve access, ecology and facilities at Boston Manor Park. Unfortunately, following a limited initial consultation, poor communication and flawed management the park looks like it’s been swept by a cyclone. Over 100 mature trees have been felled, hedgerows removed, and wildlife habitats destroyed. Local residents and visitors to the park alike have expressed their considerable upset and confusion over the damage done.

Women are suffering being left in pain and not being taken seriously with their prolapse problems. Things need a serious over haul and ladies with these conditions need to be taken seriously and given priority in women's health along with smear tests and mammograms. Regular checks and more support given. More awareness given postnatally of the many different types of prolapse, such as rectocele and cystocele and their names. Education could start at high school age for young adults about these issues early awareness is vital

Wild flower area's are almost all gone. Bees are essential to everything so to create an environment where they can thrive i feel is essential. With this being lower maintenance too will mean less emissions.

The public and travel industry have suffered enough for the past year plus. Instead of hitting us with even more hardships and expenses if travelling abroad becomes a reality. These are private companies selling the tests and will no doubt reap the benefits of this demand on us. We are told the tests are to protect us all so why do we have to pay and make private companies wealthy, they should be free. We need to let the Government know we are against this unfair cost.

Fire & Rehire is a tool to slash terms and conditions of contracted workers and has been used for decades. But there seems to be a growing trend and this is worrying. No company who have reaped misery and poverty on its employees are deserving of any remuneration from the public purse.

Thousands of workers across the UK are at risk of being held to ransom by their employers through a practice known as ‘fire and rehire’. Companies can force their staff to accept pay cuts and poorer conditions, or face the sack. And the worst thing? At the moment it’s legal, so soon many others could follow suit. Countries like Ireland and Spain have already taken decisive action to outlaw fire and rehire, but our government hasn’t. The longer we wait, the longer people’s livelihoods remain at serious risk.

It's a main, traffic free route to and from schools, nurseries, shops, health and other vital services. Without lighting and a decent road surface it is not safe or fit for purpose.

Dear reader, My name is Yazmin, and this is my Brighton Bee Bus Stop petition. At present the globe is facing economic disaster. We have reached a point of crisis, Since the 1970s it has been shown that 41% of all UK species have declined. The fact of the matter is heartbreaking, so I have set about to see what local councils and individuals can do to make a difference. Loss of habitat is one of the major causes that is driving wildlife decline, as individuals, we can do our best to support the reintegration of wildlife in our cities by planting wildflowers, recycling, eating largely plant based diets and supporting local farmers rather than industrial food production industry. On a community level, local councils can also help to encourage more biodiversity by incorporating wildlife habitats in amongst our own societal structures, such as public bus stops, train stations and public communal areas of the city. As a constantly expanding species, it is important for us to consider the homes of the creatures that once vastly inhabited the landscape we now call our city. It is fundamental to incorporate habitation for crucial wildlife to maintain biodiversity and natural balance. The overall impact of decline in wildlife has a detrimental effect on all areas of flora, fauna, and human wellbeing! Taking one small step within our city to encourage wildlife and biodiversity will positively contribute to the welfare of our eco system and citizens overall. Through some basic research I have learned that Utrecht Council in Holland have successfully transformed 316 public transport stops into 'Bee Bus stops' since 2019. These bee stops not only support the city’s biodiversity by attracting honey bees, bumblebees, and other bee species, but they also capture fine dust, store rainwater and provide cooling in the summertime. Adding urban plants also has other benefits including, Increasing biodiversity, noise pollution, reducing stress, beautifying the city, absorbing carbon and improving air quality. In April 2020 in the UK, Cardiff Council followed suit, introducing over 10 bee bus stops under the same scheme as Utrecht. Brighton and Hove are known for their eclectic values and friendly ethos. In the face of the climate crisis Brighton has a great opportunity to set an example for other UK councils by introducing the Bee Bus Stop project within our communities and take a step towards an even greener city.
