• NO PRIVATE POLICING ON OUR STREETS.
G4S is a private company and is known to charge a lot for bad service, low wages, and unreliable staff, probably because of low wages. There is no substitute for a State-owned police force.

  • stop G4S Police power
Giving private companies more "public" power diminishes the ability of those public servants with the training and focus to use the power with the job. So, trined Police use Police powers: not untrained private G4S use police powers.

  • Keep police work in police hands!
Because public safety and police matters should be fronted by the police, not an agency that has proven history of making big mistakes! How do you feel knowing this could be coming to your community soon? Scary isn't it.

  • Carers Allowance to continue to be paid after retirement age
Many carers continue to look after people with substantial caring needs once they (the carers) reach retirement age, yet are no longer financially rewarded for doing so. Attendance Allowance is only payable to the disabled person once they reach 65! Unlike paid employment, where upon reaching the age of approximately 65, the State Pension is payable and those retired can spend their time doing as they please. The Government considers Carers Allowance to be overlapping with the State Pension (both are considered payments in lieu of paid employment, but Carers Allowance, according to the Government is neither a wage nor a salary). Carers continue in their role 24/7!!

  • texting whilst driving
It puts lives at risk - its extremely dangerous not to look at the road whilst driving. Seems to be the norm lately. Witnessed car crossing red lights at speed oblivious, pulled along side later, yes texting still. To think of the fine being the same as a parking offence is unbelievable.

  • Stop the Government selling off police work to incompetent G4S
We have a skilled, trained Police force that is having its budget carved up, officers losing pay and benefits so that incompetent G4S can make more money from the UK Government despite being bailed out by the army when they completely messed up Olympic security

As part of our homelessness campaign,we would like to raise awareness of the homeless and what the government are not doing to help. Hopefully this campaign will help people understand the issue of homelessness and see what the government can do to prevent it. The government classify that there're around 20 homeless people in Birmingham but in actual fact their are 892 people. Homelessness is not a small concern. One of the news headlines, back in 2010, had said that one-in-three Britons will have been touched by homelessness. This is shocking,in fact, this should've shocked us into action. If something is not done about this, more of us will be living on the streets. Without a shelter. Without our everyday necessities. The government is for the people, not just those who have made the best decisions and made no mistakes. Our country has enough resources that none of its citizens should be without a home. It's quite shameful, that in a country, as wealthy as ours, we have citizens living on the streets. The true measure of a society is how it treats it's most vulnerable members. Therefore, the government should be doing much more than it is for the homeless population. They need help and understanding, and they need it from their government. Homelessness is your problem whether you recognize it or not. Everyday more and more people lose a job, unable to pay bills, and eventually end up losing their home. I have seen families live in cars and work while trying to survive. This is the harsh reality.

  • Ban skinny catwalk models!
France’s National Assembly has made it a criminal offence to employ dangerously skinny women on the catwalk. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32987228. Under the new law, anyone running an agency employing undernourished models below an as-yet undefined Body Mass Index risks a six-month prison term and a €75,000 (£55,000) fine. Magazines will also have to indicate when a photograph of a model has been digitally ‘touched up’ to make her look skinnier or bulkier or face a €37,500 fine or up to 30 per cent of the sums spent on advertising. Spain bars models below a certain BMI from featuring in Madrid fashion shows, and Italy insists on health certificates for models. Brazil is considering demands to ban under-age or underweight models from its catwalks. The World Health Organization considers people with a BMI below 18.5 to be underweight and at risk of being malnourished. Presenting anorexic or malnourished models as fashionable figures encourages young women to adopt unhealthy eating patterns, and wrongly categorises natural feminine curvaceousness as 'fat' and unfashionable. For the truth about the modelling industry see http://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2013/jul/05/vogue-truth-size-zero-kirstie-clements.

  • HERTS PRIVATE POLICE FORCE
These powers should remain with the police where the citizen's rights are safe guarded by law and should not be given to a private company. G4S made a mess of security leading to the London Olympics and should not be working in such an important role on our streets and shopping centres.

  • Keep police powers out of private hands
We do not want to be stopped and questioned by people other than those officially in the police force. To employ an outside company to do this is not the right way to go as some of the people who will do the questioning are not always the upstanding citizens they are supposed to be. They would simply be glorified bouncers. We pay the police force to do the work and that's where it should stay. Employ more policemen rather than paying outside companies exorbitant fees.
