• Shock, Horror! Are footballers being forced to leave UK?
It is unjust. Only certain people are receiving warning letter of removal. Has Nigel Farage's wife received a letter? Has Nick Clegg's wife received a letter? Has Boris Johnson ( born in New York) received a letter? Have the non-British footballers received letters? These letters are divisive and instill a sense of insecurity. We object to the intimidation and callousness of the Home Office to use people in this way. We deplore the indecisiveness of the Prime Minister and her abusive use of people as pawns in the Brexit negotiations.

  • Put the pension age for men back to 65
Its important because doing hard graft at 65 is bad enough never mind 70... Manual workers shouldn't be made to work till their 70 its a disgrace. Sit behind a desk yes... but digging roads, on roofs etc is a disgrace. They have worked long enough at 65!!

  • No fines for homeless in Northampton
It targets vulnerable people and fines them when they are clearly not in a position to pay. It criminalises people who are already at a low ebb and already face considerable challenges in getting their lives back on track. It is a waste of taxpayers' money chasing people with no money through the judicial system for money that they cannot afford.

  • Blame Culture
Another example of the deficiencies of the regulator essentially shifting blame and their own shortcoming on to these practitioners who very bravely risked their own lives in treating ebola patients. These wonderful nurses and human beings should be honoured and deeply respected not persecuted, its an absolute disgrace. Its about time this injustice was recognised and put right please speak up on their behalf

  • We do not consent to Smart Water Meters
Haringey residents have six concerns about the Smart Meter installation programme: 1. Not being consulted prior to installation; 2. Not compulsory (?); 3. Penalise poor people who live in crowded homes; 4. Risk to the health of humans, animals, pollinators, trees and plants; "10. The World Health Organisation’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) categorised RF EMFs as a Possible CARCINOGEN (Group 2B), the same as lead, DDT, chloroform & methylmercury (31 May 2011)". "11. Dr Andrew Goldsworthy’s research warned that electromagnetically-conditioned water flow could strip lead from pipes (after firstly removing limescale) leading to lead poisoning. (1998, 2007, 2012 and 2016)". 5. Surveillance of water, gas and electric usage; and 6. Security risk through (nuclear) electromagnetic pulse attacks, space weather and hacking (“cybercrime”). Our focus is on Smart Water Meters but not exclusively. Full details about the Stop Smart Meters Haringey campaign can be found on our website below. This petition will be initially delivered to Haringey Council. The target is 2,200+

  • Say No to Jericho's Stolen Resources
The Dead Sea cosmetic products company Jericho Cosmetics trades from stalls in Aberdeen’s Union Square and Trinity Centre. Dead Sea products are made with minerals illegally extracted by Israeli authorities from occupied Palestinian territories surrounding the Dead Sea. We appeal for a peaceful boycott of all Dead Sea products and for the closure of Jericho Cosmetics stalls on the following basis: 1- The extraction and commercialisation of resources from an occupied territory by the occupant is prohibited by UN resolutions and the Fourth Geneva Convention [1]. This is exactly what Israeli authorities are pursuing by commercialising Dead Sea cosmetics. Notably, Palestinians have no access to such resources. The exclusive access of resources to a section of the population based on ethnicity amounts to apartheid as defined by the UN. 2- The Israeli army has created 4 military checkpoints in the West Bank and has enforced inhumane restrictions of movement on Palestinian civilians. This seriously impairs the life of tens of thousands of Palestinians living in the West Bank, including children, who have to go through these checkpoints every day to reach their schools and hospitals [2, 3, 4]. The Israeli army is also fostering an apartheid culture by stopping Palestinians from accessing the beach resorts while these are being used by Israeli citizens [5]. 3- The Israeli settlements have hijacked the fresh water resources, with the consequence that now some Palestinians are consuming less than 40% the minimum recommended by the World Health Organization. This also means that the traditional Palestinian agriculture is becoming unsustainable [2]. Sustained campaigns in Glasgow, Dundee and Edinburgh have resulted in the closure of Dead Sea cosmetics stalls in shopping centres across Scotland. We urge Aberdeen’s Union Square and Trinity Centre to also distance themselves from the theft of resources and human right abuses by removing Jericho stalls from their premises. • Taxes for Life not Death
To refuse us this right is to force us to compromise our own beliefs. The elected government should not have the right to force individuals to contribute towards actions that will inevitably lead to the deaths of others, especially when a proportion of those deaths, however small you may personally believe them to be, are likely to include innocents

  • Cycle Routes on A66, A19, A689
I have spoken to stockton borough council today about their cycle path policy, there are plans in place and I am waiting for a copy of them to be emailed to me, they have £750 K in the pot and that will mostly be spent on eaglescliffe, stockton and some other places. Wynyard & Billingham don't seem to have anything assigned to them as they are waiting on a decision as to whether the hospital goes ahead and the building of the school and approximately 1200 houses, shops etc. If and obviously it's a BIG IF, this all this goes ahead, the builders or whoever is responsible will have to fork out for the cycle paths and new road infrastructures. WELL that's all very well I said, BUT what if it doesn't ? 2 people have been killed on their bikes in just over a year that is 2 people too many for my liking, 2 families devasted. What are WE going to do about it ???? We need to do something now and get something sorted just incase, we need to work together as a little town to sort this out.... Yes he said you are right !! Think my school mistress persona took over a little bit. oh and by the way, my mistake about their policy not being updated since 2006 it was 2011......... 3 years ago. The council seems to be using the pot of money they have to build cycle paths in the most unnecessary places. I disagree with them expecting others to do their job, what cost do we put on peoples lives ?

  • Reject Government-inspired Xenophobia
Under the proposed Immigration Bill migrants will lose most of their appeal rights. We ask where this removal of vital legal rights will end – it could soon affect all of us. Also, everyone from doctors to landlords will have to check the immigration status of their patients, tenants and other service users. But these people are not professional border guards, nor are they familiar with the ins-and-outs of immigration law. We call on the Government to leave border control where it belongs - at the border, with the professionals. Why is this important? The aim of the Coalition Government’s Immigration Bill is to create ‘a really hostile environment for illegal migrants’ (Theresa May). In reality, this hostile environment will affect all of us. No wonder this bill has been described by a Bishop as ‘pernicious’. This bill will create a nasty regime of snooping and surveillance that will affect us all; • Forcing landlords to check the immigration status of their tenants is such a complex task that landlords may well discriminate against anyone who might possibly be an immigrant – a threat to many UK citizens. The UN fears it will create ‘a climate of ethnic profiling’. • It will force the banks and DVLA to make similar checks, with the same result. • NHS staff will spend their time checking your immigration status instead of helping you. Also, If you are a migrant, you will have to pay a special health surcharge as well as VAT and other taxes. The Bill will undermine traditional British tolerance. It will sow suspicion and mistrust between people. For more information visit the Movement Against Xenophobia http://movagxen.wordpress.com/max-statement/ So far the Bill has had an easy run through the House of Commons, so we must look to the House of Lords to stop this nonsense.

  • Hosting refugees from Syria in Britain
What is happening in Syria today, with several million of its population refugees, hundreds of thousand dead, injured and having suffered terribly, including torture, rape and chemical bombing, is in a country barely 4 hours flight from Britain. People in Britain care and in the past have supported those in similar situations in much larger numbers - Jews, East African Asians, Vietnamese - yet barely a few hundred Syrians are being allowed to come to this country. It is clear that the situation in the camps in Lebanon and Jordan is causing great suffering and enormous pressures upon those countries. Please allow British families to offer to host Syrians, at least on temporary visas until the conflict is settled.

  • Stop fingerprinting our children in school
Information Commissioner's Office (the office that oversees compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), has published guidance on this issue and advises that even though there is no lawful requirement on a school to obtain parental consent for fingerprinting children, the school "must" involve the parents to ensure that information is obtained fairly, unless the school can be certain that the child understands the implications of giving up his/her prints. This is outrageous how can a child understand the implications of giving up their prints? They would see it as some sort of futuristic game! I do not share the same enthusiasm, concerns is that it plays on these ideas and gets children accustomed to giving up their highly personal biometric data as a matter of routine. If children at primary school age are taught that it is normal to hand fingerprints or other personal data to their school or local authority, how alarmed are they going to be if and when, as adults, a future government tries to reintroduce the idea of ID cards, for example, or to argue that there should be universal DNA retention? How schools are ensuring that children are giving informed consent is very hard to determine and practice seems to vary widely. The ability of a seven-year-old to give consent is going to be very different from that of a 17-year-old. Surprisingly, the law does not require that consent be obtained from the parents of a child, although good practice and guidance has recommended that it be obtained in advance. We are aware of many cases where this has not happened, though, and parents are only informed after the event.
