• Allow activist Lauri Love to have his case heard in the UK
No American has ever been extradited for a crime allegedly committed physically on US soil - so if the alleged crimes Lauri has committed took place in the UK, should his trial not also? The judicial frameworks for due process in the United Kingdom exist to process these cases. The UK-US extradition treaty, used to uphold a so called "special relationship", has been historically one-sided. There is absolutely no guarantee Lauri will receive the standard of healthcare he requires in the United States. In the spirit of what has been an cruel and underhanded case, the prosecution responded to concerns regarding Lauri's well documented health problems both mental and physical by continually seeking to undermine the opinions of medical professionals who state extradition is not in Lauri's best interests. Theresa May pardoned Gary McKinnon in 2012, blocking his extradition to the United States on the grounds of Human Rights. What is so different about the Love vs USA case? As McKinnon said in 2015, "It would be tragic if the ladder used to rescue me from extradition was kicked away from the next person who needs it". "Lauri is adamant he will not come to the US to be prosecuted. One need only look to the cases of whistleblowers and activists such as Jeremy Hammond, Barrett Brown, Aaron Swartz and Chelsea Manning to know the US legal system is not about justice, but about retribution. Lauri is also concerned about the extensive use of solitary confinement as punishment in the US legal system. The prolonged use of solitary confinement has been ruled torture by every major human rights group, and yet is still used as a routine form of punishment for even the most minor infractions without concern for the mental health of the prisoner. It is clear from recent examples that there is no potential for anything remotely resembling justice to come from an extradition order to the US in a case such as this." -- freelauri.com

  • COME CLEAN ON UNDERCOVER POLICING
Everyone has the right to participate in the struggle for social and environmental justice, without fear of persecution, objectification, or interference in their lives. However, many campaigns and individuals have been targeted by Britain’s undercover police for decades, undermining efforts for social justice that should be welcomed in a democratic society. Citizens have been spied on, psychologically and emotionally manipulated, and abused by officers for being part of, or simply knowing people who were part of, such campaigns. We welcome the announcement of a full public inquiry into political undercover policing, but it must be truly transparent, robust and comprehensive. In particular the inquiry must: * Be willing to hear evidence from those affected by undercover policing including: - the women deceived into long-term intimate relationships by officers - the family justice campaigns for those bereaved at the hands of the police and those challenging the efficacy of police investigations in relation to the deaths or assaults of loved ones - the construction workers blacklisted with the help of undercover police - the families whose dead children’s identities were stolen by officers - all campaign groups spied on * Protect police whistleblowers from prosecution under the Official Secrets Act and encourage current and former officers to give evidence. * Cover all undercover police units from 1968 to the present day. * Ensure the police fully cooperate with the inquiry and do not obstruct its operation though the use of their ‘Neither Confirm Nor Deny’ stance. * Hold senior police officers past and present, especially former Met Commissioners and Special Branch Commanders, to account for any wrong doing attributed to the units under their command. * Investigate officers sharing or selling information and experience acquired through undercover policing to the private sector. * Make recommendations to change the law, especially the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (2000), to prevent these abuses from continuing.

  • Please Help Us Change the Doctrine of Joint Enterprise and Sch21 Mandatory Minimum Tariffs
Did you know right now, in 21st century Britain, there are thousands of people imprisoned for life for crimes committed by others? These men, women and children - some as young as 13 - have been convicted of murder, despite the fact that prosecutors know they didn’t kill anyone. This epidemic is known as Joint Enterprise and was highlighted in Jimmy McGovern’s BBC drama, Common. What if we told you that people (including politicians) know all about it, that it is widely discussed and widely criticised, yet this government has failed to act. Joint Enterprise has been left largely unchecked and unregulated until our campaign brought the government to account. This petition will help us to force the government to abolish this unjust law and replace it with a fairer form of justice for everyone. This petition will also seek to reform the tariff system in Schedule 21 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003. This denies judges the discretion to sentence on the basis of genuine culpability and results in unfairness, particularly to defendants convicted under the doctrine of joint enterprise. Please sign JENGbA’s petition and help stop hundreds of people per year being convicted and condemned to life sentences for crimes committed by other people. Also Joint Enterprise will be challenged in the Supreme Court this October which will be the first time they will be considering the question of the harm Joint Enterprise causes secondary parties. This is a real opportunity to change the law and so if you are able to donate funds, please pledge today via: https://www.crowdjustice.co.uk/case/changing-the-law-on-joint-enterprise/ Please don’t forget to SHARE!

  • Defend The Right To Strike
Workers' rights must be protected, and not left wide open to exploitation by Government, multinational corporations and unscrupulous employers. Plans for the biggest shake-up of strike rules in 30 years would make holding dodgy employers to account almost impossible. Please sign the petition to stop the government sweeping away our rights at work now.

  • Lower the income threshold for UK sponsors of non-EU family members
In 2012, the British Government introduced a minimum income threshold of £18,600 for sponsors of a spouse from outside the EU. This was increased to £22,400 for sponsoring a spouse and a child (and a further £2,400 for every additional child being sponsored). People on low income from all communities are affected by these rules. A direct result of this ruling causes families to be divided; sponsors are forced to work more than one job, or move to another EU country where the rules are not so divisive and fairer. British citizens and those who are settled in the UK are denied the right to family life that the British Government is arguably trying to promote. These rules have been condemned by many MP’s across party lines, many religious leaders and organisations like, Indian Workers Association, Joint Council for Welfare of Immigrants, Immigrants’ Rights Network and Southall Black Sisters. This discriminatory aspect of the Immigration Act has been challenged in the High Court in a test case. The court ruled against the Government which was unfortunately overturned on appeal by the Government. This is now pending a hearing at the Supreme Court. It is widely accepted that though this may be legal in terms of legislation, it is definitely immoral and unethical to set income limit expectations higher than the national minimum wage. The Supreme Court has granted permission to hear the appeal relating to the minimum income requirement for partner visas in immigration cases. The date of the hearing has not been confirmed but it is likely to be before autumn 2015.

  • Add Tunisia Terror Incident to Government Compensation Scheme
Many involved with the incident in Tunisia will have suffered financial issues far greater than the level of payment offered by the Tourist agents/Travel agents. Many will need assistance with ongoing medical costs, counselling & therapy, other expenses. Holiday insurance does not cover acts of terrorism. To date the majority of those affected were British Citizens and should be supported by the British government to recover from the effects of this horrendous act both physically and mentally.

  • Do NOT deport non-EU migrant workers earning under £35000
In 2012 Theresa May announced that from April 2016 non-EU migrant workers will be required to earn £35,000 to stay in the UK, even if they have lived and worked here for more than 5 years. This devastating new immigration rule must be stopped, as immigrants who have lived and worked in the UK for longer than 5 years should have the right to stay regardless of their income. We cannot allow this policy to happen, as it will split up families, jeopardise the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people and severely damage the economy. The Royal college of Nursing recently announced that this policy will cost the NHS MILLIONS because so many of it's nurses are non-EU migrants who earn under £35,000 and who will be deported under this policy. Recruiting new nurses will be time consuming and expensive, and will drain more of the money needed to save the NHS. Also, the average income for a UK born citizen is £26,600, so it is entirely unfair to deport immigrants who may earn more than the average UK born citizen, but less than £35,000. Please sign the petition to hopefully prevent this devastating policy from becoming reality.

  • reclassify human rights violations as criminal offenses.
parliamentarians have continued to violate the human rights of the people with forced austerity for the actions of the criminal bankers. the human rights of victims of parliamentary pedophile groups still at large in parliament and immune from justice. the removal of food to individuals abuses their human rights. all of the above offenses are classified as CIVIL offenses if committed by a politician and a criminal offense if committed by a member of the public. this inconsistency leaves the public with no legal aid open to any human rights violations parliament wishes. by making human rights violations criminal offenses the individual has a coarse open to justice where as now there is none. politicians can cause the death of thousands of people WITHOUT criminal offenses being taken brought against them, a terrorist kills one and we bomb a country. human rights violations should be criminal offenses to protect the people from political and economic fundamentalism of individual politicians who profess to be our representatives until called to account for their actions. james anderson.

  • Take The Government To Court Over Failure To Act On The Climate Crisis
On the 24th June 2015 a court in the Netherlands set an amazing precedent. The Dutch government is now legally bound to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2020, due to a legal case taken up by 900 citizens who would be adversely affected by rising sea levels due to climate change. Under the Conservative government we have gone backwards in regards to renewable energy. Homes and the environment are being put under threat due to broken promises, failure to take positive strides towards sustainability, fracking and the recent finding of oil in Sussex. We are already in a position where we cannot consume more than 20% of our current fossil fuels if we are to stay within two degrees of global warming so as not to reach the tipping point that has been agreed by climate scientists. Therefore we need to be moving towards renewable energy, sustainability rather than further increase our dependence on fossil fuels. Let's make our government take responsibility for their inaction and make it a legal requirement to put sustainability back on the agenda in the United Kingdom.

  • Welcome 20 Syrian families in Swansea
This is very important because the situation in Syria is disastrous and the number of people who are killed and dispersed is similar to the second world war. Britain generally, Wales and Swansea specifically has along and proud tradition of providing refuge at times of crisis. EU countries have agreed on a quota of 60,000 Syrian refugees to be accepted in each country. Germany has taken 30,000 so far. Where are we in this? Only 187 Syrian people has been accepted so far. People there are killed by three large armies. The government army supplied by Russian artillery, the Isis terrorists groups, and also the American warplanes which is targeting civilian's area anonymously in its search for the Isis and killing the innocent civilians who live there. Most refugees have witnessed horrific violence and many have seen their homes destroyed by bombs or have lost family members. Thousands of Syrians flee their country every day. They often decide to finally escape after seeing their neighbourhoods bombed or family members killed. For all the reasons mentioned above we have to take part in welcoming the most vulnerable refugees in the word, of which the Syrians make the largest part of.
