It is therefore necessary in order to achieve a balanced and equal society to lower the voting age to 16 and give young people a chance to have a say in the choices that will affect their future.

We are depleting this wonderful profession. How can anyone expect nurses to pay to work a shift whilst learning. We must value nursing as a profession and encourage men and women back into this valuable profession by giving them bursaries so that they can afford to learn and train. Otherwise we will have no nurses left in this country. We have a major recruitment crisis. Who makes these decisions that affect the health and welfare of our country

New babies and mother's are leaving hospital too early. This is affected the babies ability to learn to feed. This is potentially lethal and inhibits a new mothers confidence to continue to breast feed. Such babies miss out on the gifts that breast feeding provides such as increased immunity and decreased sensitivity to food allergens aswell as the emotional bond and comfort breast feeding provides.

Not unlike other areas of government, democracy has not been aparant in Hyndburn for some time, however, the recent act of felling the town's two horse chestnut trees in front of the markt hall that were heading for 80 years old was nothing less than an act of criminal damage. In the past the council have blocked access to motor vehicles and filtered them towards 2 large superstores; starving the town centre of custom. They have built an unwanted bus station and even named it after the man that presided over the commencement of the demise of the town. They keep the town in a poorly maintained dirty condition and everything that they do is with the minimum of effort, but felling these 2 beautiful trees is the final straw. This petition is here to demonstrate to the council how we feel about them and their actions. It is not political but we do desire the current councillors to stand down and allow us to elect people that will democratically represent us.
