Save Veterans First PointA decision will be taken this week on whether a "lifeline" service for hundreds of armed forces veterans will be forced to close its Grampian base. Eight Veterans First Point centres were set up in Scotland using cash from the UK government's Libor fund. But that money is running out and local health boards are now covering costs - with help from the Scottish government. NHS Grampian has now said it is unable to continue to fund the service. Veterans first point is a NHS run service to help veterans. It enables veterans to get help quickly for all sorts of problems, but mental health is the biggest. Without it veterans can be waiting over 12 months for help by which far to many will have committed suicide. These veterans have served you it is time you served them.549 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Kirsten Farr

Villa RoadVilla Road and Hunters Road are being used as a dumping ground for illegal fly tippers, and as a race track for speeding vehicles. Pavements are impossible to use because of inconsiderate parking. Anti social behaviour has increased since the part sale of the council owned carpark in 2014. This is having a direct impact on local businesses and people living within.63 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mohammed Ali

Save the D&G 93 Gillow Heath-Biddulph-Biddulph Moor-Leek Bus Service. Ends midnight 14/09/17If this bus service loses its subsidy, many residents will be left isolated, with their only means of transport out of the villages of Biddulph Moor and Gillow Heath cut off. It's a vital public service and will impact on people being able to go the the doctors, dentist and supermarket. It will affect people's mental health - social isolation plays a huge role in people's health and well-being. It will also have a negative impact on students wishing to access further education at Leek College.359 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Jill Salt

Improve the conditions for EU-bound migrants in Libyan 'detention' centresEach night, hundreds of migrants board smuggler owned rubber dinghies to take the perilous journey from Libya to Europe. These migrants either: a) Drown in the Mediterranean sea, as the dinghies are not built to support the long, dangerous journey, packed to the brim with migrants. b) Arrive in Italy where they not currently permitted to be. c) Are caught by Libyan coast guards who transport them back to Libya to be put in 'detention' centres. These detention centres are awful places, in which many human rights are broken. Migrants eat, sleep and live on crowded floors where they do not have enough space to move around. UK prisons have far better living conditions than those in Libyan 'Detention Centres', yet these migrants are innocent people. One lady interviewed by Ross Kemp, in his Extreme World series said that she received no hospital care when giving birth and was instead left to give birth in the toilet. The migrants in these centres are often fleeing war torn countries and are now living in conditions worse than they have left. They have no contact with the outside world, so they are left to live out their days in these awful places. Article 5 of the Human Rights Act, Right to liberty and security, is clearly being broken. From the following quote: "Given its role in the conflict and subsequent destabilisation in Libya, the UK has a particular responsibility in relation to migrants and refugees, an issue which has been exacerbated by the collapse of the Libyan state. " (Paragraph 105 of https://publications.parliament.uk/…/cms…/cmfaff/119/119.pdf) It is clear that the UK government agrees with its own responsibility to help these migrants. But what an earth is being done about it? Ideally, I think one the solutions should be: For all countries that are unwilling to accept these migrants to contribute to the creation of 'peace centres'. 'Peace centres' would strive to provide a bed for each migrant within Libya whilst being sustainable in ensuring that migrants can get back to their home countries. Sustainability would be achieved by having an on site lawyers office who will fight to get these people back to their home countries and by allowing residents to work within the centre, by doing chores to support the upkeep of the centre, all of which would be paid work. There will also be education to prevent these people from getting on boats again as it is a risk to their money, safety and well being. By signing this petition, we can encourage the UK government and other EU countries to do more to improve conditions within Libyan migrant detention centres.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jodie Hemsill

Karen | A Mother's PlightKaren Perry | Wife | Mother | Full-time carer. Karen has been married to Marcus for 33 years, their marriage has seen two wonderful sons introduced to our world. Karen is a valued member of a Care Group which cares for Adults with severe learning difficulties such as Autism and Downs Syndrome, near Middlesbrough, where she works tirelessly to help others, always prioritising other peoples needs over her own. Karen is from Cape Town, South Africa. Her Grandfather moved there from Norfolk after his father had served in the Anglo Boer war as a blacksmith. It is where she met Marcus and love blossomed, and soon marriage bells rang. Karen and Marcus decided to move to the United Kingdom in 2006, so that Marcus could be nearer his Welsh family and their sons would have better education and career opportunities. Marcus is a qualified electrical engineer who was sadly diagnosed with a brain tumour, due to the effects of his illness Marcus has been unable to work for the past 7 years but retrained as a lecturer and started to work again briefly. He relapsed about a year ago and has had to rely on Karen for support and care since. It would have been easy for Karen to focus her full attention on her husband, his illness warranted it. However, Karen knew that her service users at the Care Center needed her too. It was never in doubt, Karen decided to split her time between caring for her husband and continuing her support for her service users. Sadly Karen now needs the support of others, the Home Office has decided that she is not entitled to or merits British Citizenship. The Home Office stated in their refusal letter that Karen had not proved proficiency in English even though she had passed the "Life in the UK Test" and was told that she wouldn't have to prove proficiency again. This was confirmed on the uk.gov website. After Karen sought assistance from her local MP, Alex Cunningham, the website was changed to reflect new conditions. Without citizenship, Karen is left in a state of limbo. This cannot be right, so I ask you to please show your love and support for Karen by signing our petition. Kind regards to all and thank you172 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Andrew Carmody

Staff relocation's are currently planned between September & November. The closure of this office is part of the conservatives centralization plans to remove hundreds of government offices out of small towns and place them within large hubs in cities. Improved holiday provisions for all special needs children in Telford and WrekinTo support families with complex children during school holidays giving routines, consistency and respite. Having a provision like this would improve mental health and wellbeing of everyone involved. Parents are exhausted and children have no where to go that is suitable for their needs. Even if they do have access to the small amount of trips and playscheme available it is small and not consistent throughout the entire school closures. Parents who are employed are unable to go to go to work as there is no permenant or regular provision suitable for their child. We are not able to send our children to just any holiday club or child minder... They are extremely vulnerable persons and have to have all of their needs met and understood. Our son is 5 and a half years old. He was placed at The Bridge Assessment Nursery for almost 2 yrs so was able to access a holiday playscheme for a couple of hours twice per week for 4 weeks. We were grateful for this little bit of respite at the time even as small as it was, but as our son has now moved to another special school there is no permenant holiday provision at all. Not having respite for a family with a special needs child is so difficult. Our children need routine and consistency and don't understand why school closes for 6weeks+, this accentuates all of their difficulties.201 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Lucy Trower

Say no to advertising, normalising or glorifying hunting by Scotland's national tourism agencyCurrently Visit Scotland links to a Perthshire based hunting outfit and under this listing at https://www.visitscotland.com/info/see-do/mirani-hunting-p1190411 there is a gallery of images showing a range of animal carcasses alongside the gloating hunter who supposedly killed them. Scotland enjoys a rich and wide selection of wild animals and it is our duty to protect them. Not kill them and pose for selfies.678 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Rob McDowall
