Save Wythenshawe Hospital's General SurgeryThe proposed move of these services will have a detrimental effect to the people of South Manchester. Consultants and medical staff have raised their concerns over the new proposal and believe that it will have a knock on effect to the care provided in A&E and also other areas of the hospital such as Maternity and paediatrics, cardiothoracics and heart transplant. My son was treated at Wythenshawe hospital for a ruptured appendix by the general surgeons had this service not been available we would have had to wait for a transfer to the MRI by ambulance which would have been life threatening to him. As someone who uses these services and lives in the surrounding area it is vital that these services are kept at wythenshawe hospital keeping the health and safety of the people of South Manchester and Trafford at the forefront. Would you like to go to an A&E department only to be told your life threatening condition could not be treated there and you would have to wait to be transferred to a different hospital? I wouldn't ! People of South Manchester we have until the 15th July to voice our concerns when the Healthier Together Programme will either reject or comission this proposal ! Dont cut housing benefit until you can provide enough affordable housing for those who are in needThere are many people forced into renting in the private sector by local councils because they don't have enough social housing to provide them with a secure, affordable home, now Mr Cameron wants to cut housing benefit which is sure to hit these people the hardest, force them back into the homeless system which then again puts pressure on local councils to provide social housing which there just simply isn't enough of! So what then? Local slums? Stuck in B & B's? Ot back into tge unaffordable private sector? Its a un thought through situation and utterly rediculous157 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Susan Mcgregor

Official Recognition for our VeteransImagine being asked to lay your life on the line for your Country, now imagine being given no option to do otherwise, this was the case for many of our National Servicemen. Imagine further being forced to stand and watch Nuclear explosions, without the knowledge it would cause you and your families serious medical issues and often death. Imagine you and your family running the risk of being shot or blown up every day, not in a war zone but here in the UK by PIRA just for wanting to defend our fellow countrymen. I’ll not ask you to imagine dozens of other scenarios our armed forces were asked to perform as part of their ‘normal duties’. You haven’t been asked to because others before us have done so for generations. They have previously asked for nothing in return, but we think they deserve an official symbol of this country’s gratitude. This sounds like something any government would want to do doesn’t it? After all Her Majesty has already authorised similar recognition for our Kin in Australia and New Zealand. But Hang on, this governments says absolutely not!! This doesn’t sound like something that could possibly happen in Britain in 2015. But for our Veterans reaching the twilight of their life see a Country that has forgotten these selfless acts of loyalty and duty in maintaining the freedoms we enjoy today. The scandal of a recent medal review has been swept under a carpet and kept out of the public domain with Freedom of Information acts being rejected in order to protect a Government which openly sneers at our brave Veterans. Official documents will not be released, why? Sign the petition now to make sure that the Cabinet Office and MOD hears our message: stop ignoring our veterans contribution and issue an NDM. Please click here to add your name: Wherever you stand on our Armed Forces, treating our veterans in such a shabby and disrespectful way is not the decency mark of a civilised society. 38 Degrees members stand for fairness, and we work together to make Britain a more compassionate place. Fighting for recognition for our forgotten Veterans and against the appalling treatment of those most willing to protect our freedoms will help create the kind of Britain we want to see. This is an issue of great National importance as it reflects the way in which our country values and recognises the commitment of those young men and women who keep our country safe and free. It takes into account the unique circumstances of serving in the armed forces, the loss of a high level of personal freedom, the inherent risk of being a member of the armed forces, being subject to Military law and the commitment of the individual to put country before self. It recognised and honours both those who serve now and will serve in the future and those who have served, been injured, maimed and killed in the line of duty regardless of when or where that duty took place. Can you sign the petition now to give our veterans the recognition they deserve.8,185 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Campaign Chairman

Leave us alone!Carers save the nation billions of pounds every year by looking after friends and relatives. They give up jobs, money and their personal lives to do this for no pay. The disabled cannot always work. No-one wants to employ people who may have to take a lot of time off sick or for hospital appointments. The poorest people in our country are getting poorer. Why? Because this Government wants to cut their supply line, along with the disabled and carers. We need to stand up for ourselves and each other. We need to stay alive. As an unemployable disabled carer, this latest round of cuts announced impacts on me in all three directions. Where will I be this time next year? Who knows?109 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Hilary Croughton

Save Oxfordshire's Children's Centres!Andrew Smith MP sums it up brilliantly: “It would be socially damaging and a false economy if more children and young people are held back in deprivation and troubled lives as a result, because the long term human and economic costs of that are huge.” Please do not shut our childrens' centres, they are invaluable resources in our troubled times, and to remove them will cause even more suffering and hardship for those already most in need. The council has agreed to reduce its £16m budget for children’s centres and early intervention hubs by 2018. It is part of savings of £284m planned, but Councillors say more may be needed in the face of further Government cuts expected next year. The DWP to release figures relating to the cost of bringing in Universal CreditBefore the 2015 General Election, the National Audit Office (NAO), asked the DWP to release the costs of introducing Universal Credit. The DWP, needless to say, refused. The NAO then asked a judge to ask the DWP to release the figures. Again, they refused saying that they had to stay under lock and key until after the General Election.. The people of this country need to know the cost of implementing this benefit.173 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Christine Anders

Remove Anti-Homeless Spikes from HSBC BirminghamAnti-homeless spikes, along with other defensive architecture, have been around for a while now, and we shouldn't stand for them anymore. They not only have a practical impact on homeless people's lives, disallowing them from sitting or sleeping in certain sheltered locations, but they also help to propagate the feeling of division in our communities, creating an 'us and them' mentality. This means there is less interaction, less communication and therefore ultimately less understanding of why people end up sleeping rough, and what we can do to help. Getting rid of these spikes is a small gesture, but a huge step in acceptance and care, which will help to break down barriers, allowing us to engage more fully with the poverty and need which lies on our very doorsteps.14,039 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Chris Brees

Stop the proposed £5bn cuts to child tax credits. The government is considering reducing tax credits for millions of working families as part of its £12bn welfare cuts. Changes would cut entitlements for about 3.7 million low-income families by about £1,400 a year, the IFS said, and has calculated that for the poorest families it would mean a reduction of £845 per child per year. Mr Osborne's political allies are saying the move will increase 'incentives to work' and Senior Tory sources are trying to suggest that tax credits have allowed big companies to get away with paying employees lower wages. During the general election, Prime Minister David Cameron promised he would not be cutting many benefits - including the state pension, pensioner benefits, and child benefit. It appears this didn't include child tax credits! On a recent appearance on BBC Two's Newsnight, David Skelton, director of the Conservative pressure group Renewal, stated that he agreed the tax credit bill could be lowered. "you have a lot of employers who are basically getting subsidy from the state for low paid work and we'd like to see a shift towards those employers who can afford to pay the living wage to pay the living wage." Mr Skelton said. The conservatives believe that this move will encourage workers to work more hours if they can, or if they are working part time at the moment. And also get to see a higher minimum wage over time as well. What is apparent is that this will hit the poorest hard in the short term with no guarantees that the lost benefits will be made up. Vulnerable families will have to work longer hours to maintain their current levels of income or loose out. We propose that these cuts do not go ahead. Stephen Timms, Labour's acting work and pensions secretary, said plans to cut £12bn from social security would hit "working families and children hard". "It's clear that David Cameron and George Osborne's plan will make working families less secure," he said. These cuts are an idea that is among many being considered now as the Tories wrestle with how to deliver their pledge to cut £12bn from Britain's £220bn budget for benefits and tax credits. We need to act now to show how many of us would be disappointed in such a decision.2,375 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Mark Pickles

Admit a fair number of desperate migrants to the UKThousands of people are making journeys to Europe at great risk to their lives, to flee from war and danger. They have left everything behind - homes, jobs, almost all possessions, many bringing babies and children with them. Britain has a proud and noble history of admitting refugees - the kinder-transports before the last war saved many children, we admitted fleeing Kenyan Asians , we admitted Vietnamese boat people. Most of us have never faced anything like the loss, danger and fear the migrants are driven by. They go in over-crowded boats knowing they may drown, but take the risk , because what they leave behind is so terrible. We should in decency and compassion admit a fair and generous number of migrants to the UK and take the lead in encouraging all of Europe to do the same. I was on a ferry near the Greek island of Samos and about 50 migrants were brought on board. As we left the boat , next to me was a man holding the hand of a toddler, and we smiled at each other. I have a grandson about the same age. There was nothing I could do to help them then, but this country can and should help. Imagine if it was you or your family?89 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jocelyn Ryder-Smith

Save The RoddensThe Roddens Care Home Ballymoney has played an instrumental role for decades now in caring for the most vulnerable in society. Highly trained staff have offered first class residential care , step down beds , respite and recuperation for the people of Ballymoney and beyond, easing the burden on our already overstretched hospitals and domiciliary care teams. If this home closes it will have a detrimental impact on our elderly.718 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Rodger Doherty

No food waste at TescoThousands of tonnes of food is wasted every year by Tesco. Recently, however, the supermarket chain has expanded a scheme to donate all edible food to charity to 10 of its stores in the UK. This is a step in the right direction but it is still not enough. Everyday people in the UK are forced into food poverty; more and more people are becoming homeless and dependency on food banks is growing. It is disgusting that people must rely on food banks, but it is even more disgusting that perfectly good food is being wasted when there is such a need for it.206 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Georgia Nolan-Rose
