• Billy Boy's Safety Campaign
On Sunday the 21st of July 2013 our brother the eldest of eight siblings(Billy piercy) who had down syndrome and learning difficulties returning to his home following an outing. The minibus he was traveling in came to an abrupt halt. A car in the wrong lane turned right into the side street, forcing the driver of the minibus to break hard. Billy was propelled forward and hit his head on a ledge on the floor of the minibus. It is thought that Billy had unfastened his seat belt unknown to his carer. Billy died three days later on the 24th of July 2013 at 11:50pm surrounded by loved ones. We believe as a family that Billy would still be with us today if the mini bus had been fitted with a seat belt alarm. These alarms cost as little as £4.99. One of the first questions me and my family asked was why didn't the alarm go off when Billy had unfastened his seat belt? This is why we want to make seat belt alarms compulsorily for organisations carrying vulnerable adults and children with learning difficulties. This is why we have set up the Billy Boys Safety Campaign. As a parent of three children they have all undone their seat belts at a young age. I am asking you to please help by signing this partition and share your experiences by leaving a comment. Thank you from the piercy family .

  • No Homeless Spikes
There has been a 37% rise in the amount of people sleeping rough since your government took power; 50000 families were accepted as homeless by their local authority in 2012/13 and the average life expectancy of a homeless person is 47. These statistics sicken us. Show us you feel the same by outlawing these new deterrents to homeless people finding somewhere to sleep when they have nowhere else to go. We do not believe the removal of these spikes will stop homelessness, anymore than their installation will stop homelessness, but it may convince us that you and your government are not anti-homeless people.

  • Save music education funding
The government is now consulting on reducing funding by 30% - consultation closes on 19 June 2014. The UK has produced some of the world's finest musicians and composers which are supported by millions of people in this country. All our children deserve the opportunity to learn an instrument and/or sing in a choir. Music education can improve numeracy, literacy and social interaction (as demonstrated brilliantly by the El Sistema programme in Venezuela).

  • Fair holiday deals for young parents
I feel the importance of this financial restriction would be to not only assist young families but would also help teachers and schools in general to maintain a high level of school attendance.

  • Stop Moving Nature Reserves
The habitats and wildlife in nature reserves are irreplaceable. If development corporations make the promise to offset them by attempting to replace habitats elsewhere much wildlife will be lost, and it is difficult for these animals to adjust to new habitats, just as it is important to preserve our countryside for future generations.

  • A Democratic Alternative to the Monarchy
This is important to create a more equal country, We currently have a system where one family has special status, power and privileges. This is a corrupt system and enables the continuation of the class system. The Monarchy is something that should be consigned to history if we want to move forward as a more equal and democratic country in the 21st century. We would still have the history and Royal Palaces, which could be open to tourists. However we would no longer have a system where most people are second class citizens in their own country.

  • Keep Drama GCSE
JP Morgan identify teamwork, communication, project management, self-confidence and creativity as essential characteristics in graduates. Drama GCSE explicitly teaches and develops all these skills, which are desirable in any work environment. Our nation is famed for its culture. The theatre industry and related tourism brings great revenue to the country, not to mention our fantastic exports in film and television. Far deeper than this is the impact of Drama on a person's character. Shakespeare needs to be performed, spoken, enacted and felt to truly be understood. Reading is not enough. Where will the next Shakespeare come from if we remove Drama GCSE? It would easy to write Drama off as a sub-set of English. As a Head of Drama working for many years in the UK's most diverse postcode I am am keenly aware of the transformational, inspirational effect of practical Drama on young people's lives. Some of my former students are now professional actors. This would not have been possible without GCSE Drama. By removing Drama from the GCSE roster, it would become the preserve of those well-off enough to afford private tuition. We must maintain access for all.

  • Secret terrorists trials. Don't let them become a daily reality.
I'm very concerned about the precedent that secret trials could lead to. The CIA are very heavily involved with British legal system strongly advising what information can be made public or not. The CIA are not an elected representative of the British public. They have just used there vast influence to tell the British Government how to conduct them selves. Then what will happen next? If you are convicted of a terrorist crime you will be denied access to all the evidence that is held against you. If you can afford to have a solicitor Legal aid is being savagely cut Your fair trial will not be in public. People who support you family and friends might not be allowed to follow the legal presidia. What the public is not aware of is that White Anglo Saxon Protestants will be put on trial as well. And this is only the beginning.Once the precedence has been set, It will become common for other serious crimes to be herd in secret.Murder, and Rape ; trials for stop and search, . Many people believe that as Law abiding Citizen's they will never experience the living horror of a secret trial. Please do not assume anything, all it takes is one nasty person making a nasty telephone call.

  • Save Environmental Studies!
Please do not ignore how important this subject is, it may one day save our planet. Education is the most powerful tool in saving the planet and helping us sustain ourselves and further generations. Environmental Studies has not just empowered students, but also changed the way they think and act about their education, their lives, and where they live. For me it's been the biggest page turner in my life, and without it I wouldn't be where I am now. This subject hasn't just helped me, it has helped countless other young adults in the UK find their passion in life and set them on their path for life, who are we to deprive others of such an opportunity? Furthermore it has actually encouraged students to go into STEM subjects at university, something that the government actually would like more people to do. Whilst some think that Environmental Studies overlaps with the other sciences, i can assure you the approach to similar topics is far from the same and each take their own angles and focus on completely different areas. This is a subject that deserves our attention, our care, and our devotion. We only have one earth, we only have one chance at this life, and how are we supposed to understand how we are affecting our home if we are not educated. If you would like to help us please sign this petition and email ofqual to speak your mind on the matter, we also have a facebook page up and running where we will post updates, important information, and some Environmental Studies related news just to show how much of an impact and how important this subject is! • End circus animal cruelty
Forcing wild animals to perform in circuses causes needless suffering. Beautiful wild Animals – like tigers, lions and zebras – are shunted around the country in trailers, kept alone in small cages, and forced to perform. The best circuses have long abandoned this cruel practice and wow their audiences with talented acrobats and clowns. We aim to finally tackle those few dodgy circuses that still exploit wild animals. Animal welfare experts like the RSPCA and the British Veterinary Association all back a ban on circus animal cruelty and they and many other animal welfare organisations have done fantastic work campaigning for a ban on wild animals in circuses. We were expecting a ban to be announced in the Queen's speech - but this was recklessly dropped at the last hour. For more information: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/dismay-as-proposed-ban-on-circus-animals-is-left-out-of-queens-speech-9487481.html

  • Get the England team to play the Kayapó tribe after the World Cup
The tribe are fighting with the Brazilian government to try and stop the deforestation that is leading to the destruction of the Rainforest, the place they have called home for many many years. If we could make this happen, it would help hugely to draw attention to the pressing matter of Amazonian Rainforest destruction and to help to conserve the rich cultures of the native Amazonian people that protect the land. In an open letter to the England Manager, Roy Hodgson, the Kayapó leader (Chief Megarón) said: "We live beside the Xingu River in the eastern part of the Amazonian rainforest. Our village is very traditional and we still live as our forefathers, so this would be a great opportunity for you to see how we live"
